I have a 96 and need a new tank....I have some major rust issues and I dont think I can seal it
Your better off just grabbing a newer tank. Easier to find with the added bonus of being cancer free.
Exactly my problem. My 1991 tank is dead. Can't seal it anymore. So I've bought a 2004 off ebay for 35quid included postage. Keep an eye out you can get a bargain!

Will a 2002 fit? and if so, how do I fab up the mounting tabs for the side panels?
you will need new panels and a seat to get a good fit. the original seat and panels will fit just looks very odd. you can also cut the seat to fit but again looks odd.
New panels dont fit an old frame ... seat too ... I have made em fit, but as it stands they dont.

Oh.. how do you make them fit? Because I'm about to collect some this weekend and spray them up. Is it easy? Do you have pictures?? Same with the seat... if you do can you email them to me with how you did it etc etc...
Let me find a pic of my bike before I did the complete F swap.

The panels not being attached didn't cause any problems but the older seat kinda rides up the tank. Most say cut that part off, but it didnt bother me that much.
