If I put a blue tank on my bike will the mot'er reject doing an MOT because its classed as black on my cert and v5 rather than 2 colour. Also the seat and panels won't be a perfect fit because its a later model tank. This is all to be changed but not before I do the mot. Can I just take the panels off and have the seat oddly fitted? Or will this be a downfall on the MOT.. or because they are only cosmetics will they just be ignored and as long as the seat is securely fitted will that also be ignored?
If the seat does not fit propperly it might be a safety point but I doubt it. My experience is that most of the bike MOT people are pretty approachable, simply ask one or two of them first.
With all the crazy streetfighters I see coming out of Europe, I can't imagine you having a hard time with a different colored gas tank. Aside from that, plenty of people get their bikes repainted.
I was pretty worried when i started cutting up my wife's bike to put on a new tail and other random things, but all they really care about for an inspection is that the bike starts, and all your lights/signals work. I'm not sure what all you guys have to go through there.
Don't need to produce V5 for MOT, get it done as long as VIN and reg number is on ticket and you're happy with rest, leave it to 'em. It's the government's sly way of pulling the cash from us.
