Its pretty easy when you dont own another vehicle. 8)
Wow, 10,000 miles since '07 while living in LA? You must not have too far to go. I do have another vehicle and I've already put 8,000 miles on my GS in under a year and a half... Just going to work and back is over 100 miles a week for me...
Freeways will put tons of miles on your bike in no time. Mine's an '06 but I bought it only last February with 4000 miles and it's got 31,000 miles on it now.
Your a Motorcyclist :nono:

That reminds me of the joke they call "breaking in a ninja 250", that was a couple hundred miles of only going 35mph. It went quicker for the next couple hundred going 55, but I was so tempted to put the bike up on the center stand and tape the throttle open and let it break itself in.
you put 27,000 miles on it in 16 months???!!! :o

Yeah NO KIDDING!!! I looked like Suzuki Stevo's avatar when I first read that.
I've put on a pitiful 1200 miles since May of 08' when I got the bike to learn on. I know is pretty sad but I'm working on it. Half of those miles were in this past month thanks to the new rubbers.
Anyways...
GONGRADULATIONS !!! At my rate, Ill be there in ~10 years...lol
My commute was about 6 miles a day. Now its 20 miles round trip. I rarely get a chance to ride on the weekends. All in all, i feel pretty good about it. Seems every bike i park next to has 500 miles on it.

Its been 20 months, not that far off from you. ;)
Congrats!
I've got 6800 on mine in just under 11 months, and it was parked most of December and January due to it just being too cold early in the morning to ride to work. Nearly all of it is commuting back and forth to work. It's saving me a lot on gas, and it's nice not having to put the miles on my Z28. I'm putting on about 220-250 miles a week when I ride all 5 days.

congrats man. im 700 away from the 10k mark. Yesterday i hit 9292.9 made me chuckle. its hard to believe its been a year already with my gs when i bought her new.
Yep with a 40 mile daily commute just to work and back, the miles add up. Then during the school semester I make a big triangle from Norwalk to Long Beach to Torrance so it wouldn't be unusual for me to ride 60-70 miles a day during school times. I'd spend most of my time stuck in traffic if it weren't for my bike and being able to lane split. Plus on weekends sometimes I'll ride with my motorcycle club and those rides are usually minimum 200 miles. I think the most in a year I've ever put on any bikes is close to 32,000 so I'm right on my average.
Oh yeah I've got some free time now that the semester is over, if anyone here also has some free time I'd be willing to organize a Vegas brunch. I did this last year before, meet in the morning in the Los Angeles area ride to Las Vegas have brunch and then come back. We could take the long way around or freeways either choice it's up to the group. It's be cool to have an all GS500 ride and it'll prove once and for all to all the doubters about the GS500's long haul capability which for some reason some people think anything less than 1000cc isn't capable of sustained highway miles.
Congrats on 10K...
