This punk kid on a R6 today claimed that my GS (91 blue and silver with a stripe of magenta??) was a copy of his blue, white and grey R6's paint scheme...Yea mine looked newish (thanks KevinC) ...and his looked well (T)rashed... That was never GnR...it was GnR2... Anyway Iggy Pop was in it wasn't he ... not total nobodies. They evidently have been releasing that album for 3 years. Some lawsuit is in the way. Anyway I dont mind that or Axl going solo ... Just dont re union. They all have solo's or other bands they have hooked up with ... like slash's snake pit..

I caught their show in boston a few months back and thought it was incredible. I'm old enough to remember the first lineup and can say that they always had the potential to be great live, but drug problems usually ruined their performance. The bunch of guys that "no one's heard of" are actually some of the top studio and performance musicians. Axl still has his problems (the cancelled the tour b/c he refused to go to his show before a west-coast basketball game ended) but when they get onstage they are very very tight. BTW, the new stuff is odd and more techno/industrial, but the new band's rendition of the old songs were as good as, if not better than, any GnR performance I remember.

I got kicked out of my 13th high school in 89' and I can definitely tell you nobody I hung out with liked micheal jackson (at least in public)....

I so agree with you on that approach, my first car was a $600 Honda Accord. After that I had to work to get my next couple cars. I have always run accross deals and then worked on the cars to get them to running condition. I know alot of parents in my area buy their kids SUV's sport cars and other vehicles. Whats up with parents doing that to there kids, it teaches kids to expect things for nothing. SORRY if I offend anyone with this statement but its how I feel. I have two kids, the first car they are going to get will probably come from a Junk-yard. That way they will learn what it is like to put something together and appreciate it when it is done. Granted I am not talking about a nissan or something like that. Probably something more from the Mopar era. Just like my GS I picked it up for next to nothing from a MC Junkyard, but I was jazzed just to have it. I have put money into it and I expect to put more. But it is something that I will have worked hard for and will appreciate that much more. Well that is my 2-cents.

I have a few questions for the *kid* that DESERVES to be rewarded.
If one of your shiny play things gets broken, be it your camaro or bike, can you fix them? If not who foots the bill for repairs? If it is your parents, do you reimburse them for the money they spent? I was raised a child of privelige but soon found that with privelige came certain responsibilities and obligations. My first car was a 67 bonneville, and my first bike was a Honda cb 650. I chose these becasue they would be easy to learn to repair myself. I sold my last bike a few years ago, a 1978 mottoguzzi G5 and have missed having one ever since, but I digress. No one *DESERVES* anything for doing what they are supposed to do. You get good grades, fabulous, kudos and gold stars, you work hard, great you are rewarded through your own efforts with what I hope will be valuable ethics. Being a mother myself I understand your parents wish to give to you what they never had. Moose and I have 2 sons and we want to completely equip them as best we can for the whole life spectrum, not just the recieving end of it. Anyway, thats my 2 cents and I should proabaly shut up before I piss anyone off more than I proabaly already have... Moose hasn't stuck by me for 6 years because I was meek and docile.... I am a woman of many passions and opinions but they are my own and not ones given to me.

Dont be so critical of how other people live. If my Camaro breaks, I fix it, or I pay for becasue I was the one who broke it. My parents did'nt break it, so they dont fix it. Same with my motorcycle. I dont have to get good grades. I can do whatever the f%$k I want. I chose to do well because it makes my parents happy. They reward me for hard work, and good work ethic. Look at it this way... If I dow ell in school, I see no reward for years, so I may say to hell with it. However, if I see that my hard work pays off, I continue to try. I get a car. I worked for something, and earned it. I may not have made the money to do it, but money is not the only thing of value.

I have the same feelings about people my age getting too nice of things. For starters your car's value in thousands should'nt exceed your age. I see so many people my age in 40k cars, thats sick! Yes, if you work hard then you deserve the rewards. But for all of those who bust their ass to make it to college coming from next to nothing, they dont get that lil reward to help them stay motivated. Not ending up in poverty is their reward. So yeah some people may just be jealous but others just dont see why a college student needs an expensive car while some people our age can barely afford to live. My parents worked hard too, and are able to provide luxerious cars for me, but they dont. Reason: THEY worked hard to get what they have, lol not me. So if i want a nice sports car(nd god i do) i'm gonna have to work hard for it. I bought my first car before I left for college, I saved a year plus for my 93' GS. People dont like to see things just handed to others people esp younger folks. I'm sure you work hard, I bet you've had jobs and value money. But doesn't/ hasn't?

First off, let's keep it civilized, Lucky13 (nor anyone else) called you names or got profane, there is no reason for you to attack her personally. By bragging about your privilege in a forum where many people aren't as well off as you are, you were inviting response.
You may feel that he is willing to fix something if it breaks, but you have the reality of a safety net of your parents that will do it for you if necessary. You're proud of his "work ethic" but I *strongly* doubt you are paying for all the gas, insurance and other upkeep for your vehicles. If nothing else, by your own admission, you got them for free. Don't go on about "deserving" it. Your parents deserve to be able to give it to you, they earned the money. You are rewarded for your work at a higher rate than others. Most teenagers don't get sports cars and motorcycles for good grades. Again, your parents may do with their money as they will, but don't act like you much to do with getting a car instead of a PS2.
Having a job when you don't "need" to isn't a good work ethic, it's working because that is what is necessary to support yourself and your family. It putting in long hours because that's what is expected or needed of you.
Read a few message threads around here. There are people scrimping to make ends meet. Selling their bikes to pay for school. Riding 12 months a year because they can't afford a car. Doing without because some a****e stole their bike. I know, not your problem, or mine, but if go around bragging about what you have and how you deserve it and then expect everyone to sit quietly by and pat you on the back for being so brave to have struggled through high school.

That being true, it is an absolute impossibility that your meager brag session was my sole reason for joining. You (regardless of what you think) are not that important. Someone decided to flame on "Kids these days" which is cool. They had an opinion. What I dislike is as soon as I state my opinion, and put the point across that I am one of those kids, I get harrassed by some Mom and her husband. I used to enjoy this forum becasue it was free to say what you want and not get mistreated. Thats obviously changed.
I wasnt trying to "Brag". I just wanted to show that there are kids like me, who do know the value of money and work. I also know what its like to have no money. Me and my family have had to rebuild from nothing more than a couple times in the past. Dont generalize about kids. Ashman proved very well that there are kids who dont have all the luxuries. I am so impressed by people like him who do struggle through college to make something of themselves. Everyone is dealt a differant hand. You people bashing on those who are fortunate is as bad as me sayin "those f%$king poor bastards, using up welfare, dirtying our streets, creating crime". That wouldnt go over well would it? No.
Oh John, whichever of you, NS, LA, whatever...I am most definatley not a child. I live on my own, I work and go to school in Ottawa with no car, no motorcycle, and not alot of money right now. As soon as september hits every year, I live like the other half. Im 4000km from my family and all my stuff, and things. I take the bus, work 35 hours a week, go to 5 engineering classes per week, pay rent. I do it all. So dont tell me, any of you, Im a child, and a spoiled one. In some ways I am. Not in all. You petty people cant get past the fact that I do have a good life. You dont see the volunteering for the homeless, mission trips to mexico, reading to elementry school kids that I do on top of work and school to help out the comunity. Think what you want about me, and my family and "kids", just dont generalize that all kids that have nice cars and motorcycles and allt hat other bullshit are lazy, arogant punks. WE may be arogant, but some of us, actually alot of us do work hard, and contribute.

I understand the thick skin and autism connection.
WE have a close family friend and her son has autism. I have spent a lot of time with him, and can imagine the challenges of parenting. Money issues seem so petty when compared to something of that nature.
Hopefully I can help in the future. I can only hope to be the plethora of knowledge that many here are.

I don't have a problem with you, but I definately had a problem with your post attacking Lucky13. I don't have a problem with anybody living the good life, so to speak. More power to them, but the things you said in that were completely uncalled for and inappropriate. That's why I responded as I did.
When you make a post like you did, you have to expect some flak over it. Maybe you're not spoiled, but that's certainly how you came across in your post. I guess next time just have a look over what you wrote and think a little before you click on "submit" Telling people to F-off (amongst other things)isn't the way to go (especially when they didn't do or say anything to deserve it).

But Rich i'm no prize myself, my parents bought a house for me to live in for school and my power and utilties are paid by them. BUT i feel guity as hell about it. I'm relient upon my parents: health insurance, housing, tuition. They dont have to support me n e more, they choose to and i recognize that and see that I owe it to them to pick up as much stuff as I can while holding down school nd my meager b.s job. So maybe I'm spoiled? I dunno, my car, bike ect r in my name paid in hard earned cash money. BLA! I dunno.

This is a great example of the dangers of stereotyping. It may be that more teenagers don't understand the value of a buck than us 30'ish folks, but that doesn't mean that any kid we meet on a bike got it for free... :bs:
We all have to be careful about making blanket statements about any group of people. After all, we're all motorcyclists... we get stereotyped as much as any group of people, and we all know how crappy it feels when others make assumptions about us individually based on their limited experience or generalizations.
