Has anyone ever owned one? What do you think of them? Is there anyway to rig one up to a GS? Just curious.

This is from a German fellow.
I've never seen one but would like to. :D
Hahaha wow, that's awesome!
If I was going to do one, it would be like that.
One of the guys I ride with had a Ural with sidecar. Fun bike, starts a conversation at EVERY stop light with strangers. Great if you have a non-rider significant other, or a dog. :thumb:
Well, it's more of just a running joke with my friends. Whenever someone would throw an insult or do something stupid I'd shoot out a 'and that's why you're not allowed to ride in the sidecar.' And to tell you the truth, I really didn't think you could put a sidecar on a GS. Now my empty threat has some weight to it. :D
cool for novelty or rural travel, but i think it'd make traffic filtering a lil bit tricky.
Oh sidecar wheelies are fun, makes right hand turns INTERESTING cause youre leaned over ( bike is) in the opposite direction of the turn , gets a bit hairy sometimes, i had one briefly on my sportster
6 years ago i worked at lenders and insurers and assembled urals that were imported from russia. They would come in crates with the front forks off, front wheel, rear wheel, and side car in a seperate crate. I got to drive back and forth to work on the tester models my boss owned. Urals are shaft drive and most are even 2 wheel drive. The side car wheel can be turned on or off via a live axle. They were not very fast and at first it was realy hard getting used to driving around. You have to totally re-train your self how to ride. After sevral weeks of ridding back and forth to work i was able to fly the side car like a champ. Those flat fours had a lot of tourqe though were gear pretty low in the drive shaft. I dont know if a gs500 would work so well un-less it was geared way way down. But any ways side cars are fun. Plus those urals dan bought for way cheap and was making pretty good money.
yeah flyin the car IS fun :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted:
i saw a scooter (burgman 650 or similar) with a side car around town the other day.... :dunno_white: :cookoo:
wow, that's kind of ridiculous. hmm, new question, has anyone ever attempted to build their own sidecar?
About 40 years ago I used to "do-da-monkey" grass track sidecar racing, terrific fun when you are young and fearless.
Me no never had one but a close mate had one on his old suzuki. He loved it and took his dog everywhere in it and was great for loading up the sidecar with alcohol, food, sleeping bags, camping gear, alcohol, tent, water oh and did I mention alcohol ;)
Took him a long time to get it right and then took a long time to get the ride angle correct with constant stops with spanner in hand adjusting the lean angle of the bike vs side car.
End result........Looks great.
