Title: stupid carbs
Post by: tiptonmustang24 on June 19, 2009, 05:07:33 PM
hey guys i must be stupid, ive worked on my gs for countless hours with no luck...my bike is a 1993...im using 150mains, 40pilots, 1 washer, 3turns out....ive also tried 2.5-3.5 turns out.....ive tried my float levels everywhere.....high,low, and everywhere inbetween.....ive adjusted the float tang as far up and as far down as itll go......no matter what i do around 1/4 throttle and 3/4 throttle my bike sucks(it just kinda bogs and wont accelerate...the best performance was when the float level was about 3mm above the gasket....but even then the top speed in 6th gear was 80mph......ive tried putting my bike on prime....ive also tried opening my gas cap.......so my question is how much would a dealer charge to fix this? anyone on here around oklahoma that i could ride my bike to and maybe get some help from? i told myself i was going to do all the work on this bike myself when i bought it, but ive had it since like november and work on it whenever i can..i really just want to ride it. now that summer is here i really hate missing all these great days to ride.

OK please post a pic of your needle.
You have DJ needles, 150 is wrong.

BTW you running K&N in place of the air box and a pipe right ? pipe is needed for 150.

Cool.

Its been bad of late, but those have been harder ones. A partially done carb can be done a lot quicker.
But what is your time ... by when you have to have it ?
I got 1 done and I plan on getting 2 more out by this weekend. That would leave the very hard ones only. So I could be good to take on the ones that need done and not whole running carbs till end of summer.
Cool.
