Title: Jetting advice for a gs555
Post by: Dr.Sparkie on June 22, 2009, 12:57:08 PM
I have a GS555 with stock exhaust and stock carbs (presumably). Don't ask me why it came to me in this manner, it's a fantastically long story. The head has also been polished, but not excessivly ported.

So I need to rejet the carbs, I found ONE reccomendation to do 147.5 mains on a 541cc

but I would appreciate a little more help from the guys who drive these fire breathers as to main and pilot jet sizes.
I know I should upgrade the exhaust and the carbs to something a bit better flowing, but $2.50 for some new jets is all I can afford right now.

Someone back in 99 on the mailing list ran 45 pilots and 155 mains. But that is an 89-00 bike. You have a 01+ - no clue.
Cool.

Oh crap, forget that, no pipe and no K&N, I think 155 will be over kill ... maybe 42.5 pilots - but definetly not 155 mains. Maybe try 130 mains.
I may have some, or have 135 mains, which could be what you need ... who knows ...  :dunno_white:
