those links to youtube must be broken.  They took me to the two worst songs ever!

Just kidding, glad you could get some relief.  Back pain can be the worst pain in the world...but you already knew that.

Heya, hot-stuff.

Much better, thanks for asking.

I want you in my club.  I'm calling it The Anti-Cool.  Or maybe the Anti-Cool Society of Suck (for the acronym, of course).
I'm sick of the Rough Ridas in G-boro hatin' on my lack of back-patch.
You can be Chief Medical Occifer.

Divo, are they another Simon Cowell creation? I think so. Funny thing about Leonard Cohen songs, he almost has a rep for "suicide music" but actually writes very uplifting stuff that simply acknowledge the fact that we aint always on top of the world. I like it anyway.
"Halleluja" has been described as a secular hymn which is interesting, something us atheists can relate to and believers find spiritual, not an easy call. They tell me old Len needs the bread so the second, or third, coming of Halleluja will do him no harm at all.

"even an atheist" - I won't bite on that one!

It's funny how music can transcend and do things and the who-likes-what always turns up a few surprises, a few weeks back I was one of 15,000 people at a Dylan concert amnd was surprised to be surrounded by twenty-somethings, the previous Dylan concert I attended was almost two years to the day before that and was pretty much all my generation,  boomers.

I suppose if any music moves you, turns you on, soothes your pain emotional or physical, snatches at your emotions or you simply just plain like it without analysis then it's gotta be good.

I'm with Cal on Amazing Grace.   I've pretty much made the move from "agnostic" to "atheist" in the last couple of years, but Amazing Grace is one that always gives me goosebumps, with or without the words.

It's corny, but in the first Star Trek movie, when they are having Spock's funeral, and they play Amazing Grace, I just lose it!

There's about half a dozen other songs that give me major goosebumps.   Pink Floyd's "Learning to Fly" and Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" come to mind.  Especially the last one....I have to crank the volume up and close my eyes when I listen to it, and I'm pretty much paralyzed by the end.

Yama, just when I figure you for a redneck, you throw il Divo at us?   You surprise me, in a good way!    Pain sucks, especially constant pain.   I can totally see why certain music would help you.

Yes I know what you mean about "Amazing grace" - great story behind it as well, slave ship captain and all that "seeing the light" I quite like a variety of music.

Yama- no offence taken just having a smile to myself, cheers.

I'll take that post Wladizu! I haven't really fit into any of the clubs around here. Although the closest is the Fast Lane branch of the CMA!

I believe music touches the soul and comforts the heart. Up until three years ago I was agnostic/ buddhist. But, a very close encounter with death changed alot for me. I guess many may think it makes me weak but the thought of going through this life for nothing really unsettles me. Thinking that all of this is an accident is something that doesn't make sense either. I mean the beauty of a sunset or sunrise; the comfort a nice cool evening on the beach; the pain we feel also has it's own beauty.

If it was not for my faith I don't believe I'd go on. When I'm in severe pain in the hospital getting stuck in the neck for the upteenth time can really get me down. But, then I look at this nail I have on my necklace and it reminds me of something. It reminds me of someone who went through so much more pain than I can even fathom and he did it for me. To the point that I wrote this:

The Nail
I wear it for all to see.
Not as a style or statement.
For it is my living testament.
That Jesus died for me

We all have had trying events.
Pain and hurt was my mainstay.
Oh how I tried to live my way.
A way made of anger and bewilderment.

Wondering why God left me alone.
I was angry I had to endure more than most.
It almost took death to feel His heavenly Host.
To know I could not come even close to self atone.

That is when I was given this nail.
To remember that no matter how bad it could be.
It is nothing compared to Jesus' suffering for me.
It is also a promise of a love that will not fail.

People ask me about this small ornament.
I point to the side where John 3:16 is inscribed.
The feeling I got when I first believed I could not describe.
I had to share it to all so that they too could repent.

It may only be a piece of steel.
What it represents is the ultimate of all loves.
And it shows in everything from the dove.
To a hurt heart that thanks to Jesus will heal.

How you feel about a liver transplant?

Because that's what 2500mg of acetominophen will get you.  Seriously.

Try fish oil if you aren't using it. (I take 8 a day) In addition to whatever else you do. It isn't gonna burn a hole in  your stomach or fry your liver or kidneys.  Not magic but it helps.  And keep the tylenol under 1000mg, mmmkay? You have enough problems as it is.

Seriously! You seem to have already gave up because you gave up on trying to get in to see the proper doctor. Now please don't take this to hard or the wrong way but if you put half the effort into getting into seeing the doctor as you do bitching about it I think you'd get much father. Yup, it sucks trust me been there done that got a closet full of t-shirts. I know tonight I will go into work for a five hour shift but if last week is any indicator I won't be able to wear pants home because my ankles will feel like fire and be so big that I can't get the riding boots on. It sucks and I won't be able to walk for a couple of days but that is life and it is what you have to deal with.

Sorry to be hard but you gotta fight! Bitchin won't solve any problems!

Actually, yes! It does take stress off of your body and allows it to use the energy from stressing to take care of the immune system.

I don't know how far away Knoxville (18.1 according to mapquest) is but this place covers everything and operates on a sliding scale! http://www.interfaithhealthclinic.org/services.html

Also in Knoxville! AND IS FREE! http://www.freemedicalclinic.net/

This took five minutes! Now go out there and do something about it.
