Title: Using centerstand question.
Post by: birdman561 on June 26, 2009, 11:29:05 AM
Im sort of an insipid, testicularly challenged individual, but I dont think I should be having so much
trouble getting my bike up on its centerstand. Is there a simple method I am missing to do this,
or I just need to HGH up for a few days, then try ?  :dunno_white:

Thanks in advance !  :thumb:

It's not strength, it's technique.  It's been a while since I've had a centerstand on my gs so I'm sure someone with one will give you great techniques.  Until then...put a good solid chunk of your weight on the centerstand foot.  Put your left hand on the left grip.  Put your right hand on the grab handle.  Pull back, NOT up.

Wow !!  I think you just did it for me !!  :icon_mrgreen:

Thanks ineedanap !

Ive been trying to grab the bike with both hands on the bars, not the grab handle.
Makes much more sense !  the first time I tried it, I almost dropped the bike to the right  :cookoo:

But, I think thats it !!

Thnks for taking time to respond  !

Yeah its a technique, you dont need huge amounts of strength. Practise and keep at it and all of sudden you will get it right and wonder what all the fuss and effort was for...........just like "sh***ng"   :icon_mrgreen:

Hmmmm.... I guess thats the reason that happened at the same time I was trying to pull it up on the stand ?
Interesting coincedence , but I hope tha doesnt happen every time

Also use your foot more rather than pulling harder. If you put all your wight on the center stand, you just have to lift it up a little before it gently goes up.

Trust me I just got it down on my birthday and August I will have had the bike two years! For me the trick was when I got the centerstand down to lean the bike a little to the right so that the other half of the centerstand was on the pavement to then I just pushed down and lifted slightly and up it popped :thumb:

I had really just given up deciding that since my right knee was trashed after two surgeries that I'd never be able to do it. But, my best friend kept at me to try and it finally happened. It was like ding ding ding. Now that wasn't so hard!
