I got it over with. I was making a right turn on to a little street that leads to the parking lot on campus. I slowed to about 15mph, then entered the turn. There was a puddle of water in the middle of the turn. I saw it before I entered the turn, but I didn't adjust my speed or lean angle through the turn. Before I knew it, I lowsided.
I was wearing my leather jacket and helmet, jeans, and no gloves. My pants got ripped and a little road rash on my right knee. A little rash on my right hand from not wearing gloves. That's about all the damage to me. The bike suffered a bent handlebar (I just replaced the bar with a drag bar about 2 weeks ago), some scrapes on the new F1s pipe, and some scrapes on the crankcase cover. That's about it though. Bike still runs, I rode it home just fine.
Well...I had my first accident. At least that's over with.
Sounds like its time for my billet case covers and the SM copy handle bars... oh come on god is telling you... else you'd have lowsided left...
More seriously if the round cover shows deep scratches or cracks... on either inside or outside... replace it... it covers a $150 ignition plate, and prolly a $50 rotor (people here have spares of the rotor but the plate... you're screwed). BTW glad you're ok... I cant sell to dead people - or very hurt people... right. Just kidding... need a bunch of orders to start making the covers. Bars I am going to talk to the guy to see if he wants to start off with 12 or so.
Cool.
Srinath.
Glad ur alright.
It's good that people are not afraid to share their experiences on this board.
We can all learn from them. :thumb:
Sucks... you've had some rotten luck. Hopefully the worst is behind... come to the ride tomorrow!
YEAH! You'll have a great time with other GSTwinners! meet between 8-8:20 to roll at 8:30 at Shell station (on Angeles Crest hwy at 210 freeway).
you're sure to forget your bad luck-if only for a few hours of fun.
Sorry to hear that you crashed. Now for your medicine; Always wear gloves!
You know...I was considering going to the ride tomorrow, but now with my handlebars all bent up, I don't think so. Thanks for invite though. Maybe next time.

I've got my old stocker, if you want to borrow it.
You will probably be soar tommorow. I wouldn't recomend a long day in the saddle.
I always like to give the bike a good cleaning after a get off. Just to make sure everything is where it shoud be.
