Found this post over at svrider and thought I would share. If this doesn't reinforce the need to wear ATGATT, I don't know what would.

Just be thankful that it's up to the rider if they wear gear or not.
Personally I wear gear all, only because I look so hot in leather.
so will he ever use that hand again? :icon_eek: thats totaly crazy glad i convinced my dad to wear gear :thumb:
I wear gear all the time but I keep trying to upgrading the quality. Wish there was a section dedicated to street gear. Hey, where did I hear that before?

Bucks,
You scared me for a minute. I thought you'd crashed your SV1k.
I was going to ask how the bike was. :icon_mrgreen:

Thankfully not! I've had a few encounters with wildlife in Kentucky. It's pretty scary when a horse gets spooked and runs out in front of you! I ducked... At least animals are more forgiving than cars.
mannnn that last link :icon_eek: holy efff thats crazy and gross at the bottom of the page :o
Just got my Aerostich this week. Feels much better. Tank is sluppery under the knees, but with the full up- armor on the 'stich, I feel a little better.
I looked at every page i could to see what happens to the unfortunate or stupid riders when i was researching which moto i wanted as my first bike. I hope to not be the latter ever but that is no reason to fear the first, just gotta do what floats your boat and if that is ride 2 wheels .... WHERE GEAR!! or that first opps will likely cost thousands more than it has to.
gear may not save your hide in 100% of all accidents, but, i'd rather err on the side of too cautious in this situation.

Yeah for the most part impacts still break things, but asphalt will be less likely to have its way with you.
:o
this is exactly why i've put off my bike purchase, not enough to buy proper gear+bike at the same time
