Title: I think Flick is getting sick
Post by: Toogoofy317 on July 07, 2009, 06:37:31 PM
Well,

I know my guy is cold blooded but it is far from cold here at this point. It is taking longer and longer for the bike to not stall out. The other day after getting going was making a tight radius turn and the bike just died. A severe pucker moment to say the least.

My MPG has gone down as well. Got 11,000 on the bike now and have taken it in religiously for maintainance. Was serviced 500 miles ago. Not sure whats going on?

I have been getting that itch let me tell you. I just don't know if that stuff will void my warranty  :dunno_white:

Yeah, I cannot wait to see what you've done. I've wanted one of those fairings since about a week after I got Flick! I bought this extra warranty and still have three years!

Clean and rejet with proper mikuni parts will not void ... neither will using DJ ... so like WTF ...
Just have your way with him mary ... you know you want to.

depends what you take you bike in for if you rejet the carbs and do an intake, and you take the bike in for an oil change than how will they know. my Buddie has a new cobalt SS and he flashed his ECU for better performance and was scared when he needs service cause those computer store everything when its unplugged, flash installed  and they can void the warranty cause of that but if he just gets an oil change and tire rotation they have no business checking the ECU. go ahead and cleank the carbs and do a little rejet for your stock bike then, then check and regap the plugs, also check you oil and find out which weight they used you could be building up sludge in your case.

I dont think the gs has  an ecu that counts / records mods or upgrades. In fact no OBDI  I know of has the capabilty of telling on what mods have been done on a car or bike, just visual inspection. They might be able to tell how the comp or electronics have been compensating to meet the demands of the mods (ie. air flow/fuel) but on our bike. Tale-tell signs on our bikes are, pipes and filters, they are more than noticeable on an inspection/warranty service at the shop where you bought it or they are regularly serviced.

Better yet screw the warranty, YOU CAN FIX IT YOURSELF!

Wowee ... excellent question Josh dude.

Yes, valves going tight act up 5 seconds after starting and it all clears up when it gets hot ~5 mins after starting. It acts like there is a intake or exhaust manifold leak, but it wont respond to wd40 sprays.

So, yea check valves.

I assumed that it was done when I took it in for the 11,000 mile service and such. Guess, should check out the papers to see what they did. I got the complete maintainance warranty package when getting Flick was $5 a month for 5 years of service/waranty. My friend and I were thinking about checking this stuff out so I guess it will be a weekend project soon. I know the shop told me that if they put on aftermarket stuff it wouldn't ruin the warranty. Might go in and ask exactly what I can do!

Dealers will do anythign to sell you aftermarket crap. So I doubt they would tell you @ the installation time that it will void the warranty.
Of course - once you install it, especially if you go to a different dealer ... sorry man, the sky fell down, and we cant do warranty work on your bike cos you put these here tires on.

I am sorry, much like it says in the bible - As a good pastor "you need to tend to your flick" sister mary. Now I am turning you into a nun.

Yea, you'll have nun of it.

Cool.

Ouch! I really do want to do stuff to Flick. My dealer is pretty good about things. I ride with a few of the service techs and such. I'll drop by tomorrow and see what was done on my last service and go from there!
