Title: Gotta love working a Saturday night...
Post by: ashman on October 04, 2003, 08:28:30 PM
Hey all,
I've made a bunch of posts tonight. Why? Cuz I'm stuck at work and bored as hell! I hate working weekends while everyone else has fun.  I love how I get schedule every saturday ruling out a weekend trip. I work at a hotel and man I get some winners. Had a girl last week come down to my desk and ask "how do you dial" i'm lost, i say pardon? You mean a phone? "yea" I go oh well area code then 7 digits. I go where are you from? "georgia" Its like oh we clack 2 bricks together, howl at the moon and wait for a dial tone...    N E other good custom stories????

I feel for ya man.
Thanx to the line of work I'm in, it's been years since I've been forced to work on a Saturday let alone a Saturday night. :o
Hey, look at it this way...the more half-wits that come into your lobby, the more you'll be amused and time usually flies when you're having 'fun'...at their expense of course.

One of my many duties at work is help desk. A few years back a user came into my office and said that he had put a CD in his computer and couldn't get it back out. He had an older computer that didn't have a CD drive, but it did have a 5 1/4" floppy.

I realized immediately what had happened and couldn't keep myself from laughing at the situation. He told me that it wasn't funny and I told him that, "Oh, no, it IS funny."

I had to pick the computer up and shake it to get the CD out of the floppy drive.

We refer to that as an "eye dee ten tee" (ID10T) error.

Four twelve hour days, FOUR OFF, four twelve hour nights, FOUR OFF.
the FOUR OFF is pretty good but you loose track of weekends, it's something other people do. Often very quiet on a Sat night and/or Sun day shift. Gives me time to browse three GS500 sites, this one and two UK ones in those quiet moments, hence this post.

Doing heavy equipment parts I have on occasion had people who are illilerate call me looking for parts.  Problem is if they can't read the book they don't know what the parts are called.  Its not funny though -its very sad.

I work as a pharmacist (sorry, kids, no free samples.. :nono: ) and boy do I see some amazingly funny and stupid things.  One big thing scares me, though, and I see it over and over again.  So many of the meds people are on today can cause drowsiness and diminished motor and sensory ability.  Pain relievers, tranqulizers, antianxieties, on and on.  These are the very cagers that we all complain about being half asleep behind the wheel...maybe this is one  of the reasons...it's so prevalent that it is a big concern (believe me I give a LOT of warnings and counseling to try and avoid this danger)...and...you can arrest a drunk driver and take their license...what about the soccer mom on a pain reliever, tranqulizer, and antihistamine who careens her 8-cylinder SUV into you and says "I didn't see that biker.."?? :x
