I've come to the conclusion I want some shinko 006's for my bike, seeing as how theyre cheap, and they have the sizes I want.
I'm keen on 120/60 for the front and 140/60 for the rear.
tell me, are the sizes I want crazy stupid? Will the 60 sidewall really knacker things up? Others have ran them, but I was hoping for a bit more input with respect to handling.

I don't think the widths are weird, but why are you changing the height of the tire? The 60 part means you are making them shorter I tihnk since the OEMs are 70.
that will throw off your speedo readings (which is a joke to begin with).
you're prob better off going with the 120/70ZR17 FRONT and 140/60R17 REAR. those aren't perfect, but they're wider tires with the correct ratio in the front.
Yea 120/70 will work, though 110 70 is better for steering I have heard.
Yea 140/70 will fit like a glove.
The tar may be hard as a rock, but in effect any one that makes the lower profiles, doesn't put in a hard compound in them. The tars are likely to be fine though not sticky as glue.

The 150/70 sport touring radials are such an improvement over the oem tires I haven't tried the 150/60 supersport types myself. The Shinko 006 is a medium compound tire so should be quite sticky with shorter life than the sport touring types.
The shinko radials are getting some attention over at the EX500 aka Ninja 500 forum. A 150/70 won't fit the EX500 so the 150/60 supersports get more use over there by those wanting radials:

if you want an alternative with the proper sizes, try the Kenda 671. they're only $55 for the front (110/70-17) and $65 for the rear (140/70-17) at bikebandit.

ahh, but i already have an account with ronayers, theyre offering 12$ shippingon tires right now, ive already got kendas (which are older than i am and i want something else) and im ordering some carb springs, a gs tach cable and a hurricane speedo cable from ronayers sometime today, meaning i MAY ACTUALLY KNOW how fast im going soon... im not counting on the speedo being correct because of the differences in the honda sending unit versus the gs speedo, but a relative indication would be nice.
I want the shorter sidewalls cause im a goon, and I think its cool. for cars sidewalls==bad, the tread section is more rigid without being held up by miles of rubber, and i like the sportbikes that have the tread section going right down to the rim (seemingly)
so I can get a 110/70 front, but why not make it wider, but then shorter? I will lose about 5mm in sidewall height. Im not really worried about getting killed, that was just the hook to get some hits ;)
ive got to decide if i want these tires in about two hours.... so anymore more turn in thoughts? will it still hold once ive got the bike turned in? im a big guy, and I have no problem muscling the bike down in the corners (once i grow some more cahones), but i need to know it's going to stick. My last lowside taught me to be wary of tires that dont stick.
My only concern would be if your knees are really in the breeze and leaning hard..would not low profile tires be more prone for rim scrape or do they over compensate with extra tread near the edge of the rim?
no chance of rim scrape given the tread section width versus the rim width.. the bike would have to be upside down to get the rim on the ground (well... ok, not really, but flat on the ground perhaps)
anyways, I've ordered the tire, and you all get to find out how it behaves in about 2 weeks
