Title: Need a shortened sidestand, or an extra to shorten myself
Post by: tt_four on July 14, 2009, 08:05:38 PM
I'm about to lower the bike so my wife can reach the ground a little better but I'm not 100% sure that it'll stay like that, so I don't want to do any permanent modifications to the sidestand yet. Does anyone have a sidestand they have already shortened that they would be interested in selling? I saw someone cut theirs in half, shorten it, stick a rod inside, and weld it back, but most people probably just cut an inch off the bottom. Either way, I just need something that will let the bike actually lean on the stand. The links I have are supposed to lower it 2 inches, and I'm going to lower the front to match, so I think the normal sidestand will definitely be too short.

Please let me now if you have anything, or even if you have an extra sidestand you'd sell, I could always just cut it myself. My email is allroy_66@yahoo.com

Thanks!
Josh

What kind of links are you planning on using for this?

I'm not sure, I bought some off someone here for a couple dollars, I can't remember who it was anymore. He said they would lower the bike 2 inches. After thinking about it, my 18 year old sidestand is a little worn on the back side, and when you lean the bike over and it hits the sidestand, the stand will then let the bike lean over a couple inches until I stops, so I think it'll actually be fine when I have the bike lowered. Once Heather gets used to riding again, and we end up raising the bike however, I'll probably be looking for a new sidestand that actually works as it should.
