I just completed an oil change, air filter change, adjusted the chain a bit tighter, and changed my air pressure to a bit lower p.s.i.(per owners manual). The bike is a 2002 naked version. It runs great and has no issues that I aware of however... When I am out playing and trying to get moving rather quick from a stop, in first gear, there seems to be some hesitation for just a second. I am not sure where to start or what to do in regards to this issue. Going through the rest of the gears is perfect, it is just this one problem. Thanks for your time!!

When you say first gear, do you mean it's slow from when you're starting frmo a stop, or if you're already riding higher in the RPMs and try to give it more gas, that's when it hesitates? Mine just kinda hangs out from idle to 3k rpm, but once it hits 3k it just about jerks out of my hands.
Yes, when starting from a complete stop. I am wondering if it is just the nature of this size bike, or if I have an issue.
Pilot jet. Start and take off's are pilot ... Set it right (need a +1) and you can take off with 2K feathering the clutch.

What's a +1? just for my own future refrence...
a +1 is a pilot that is one size up from the stock one.
In a boob job parlance - a good boob job is one that does a +1 on cup size and +1 on overall circumference and is undetecable.
So we do a +1 on pilot +1 on mains and 1 washer and 3 turns up form a stock 2.25 if I remember ... +1 all around ... but take off's are pilot, go to 20 from the 17.5 stock.
I sell a pack of these for 25 shipped, 33 with mids and you can get a 147.5 too instead of teh +1 on mains ... K&N and pipe = 147.5.

Sounds good, that was my initial though, but i got thrown off by the +1 since pilot jets don't go up in even amount of 1.

I don't know if it is new or not. I have only been riding for about eight months since my msf course and I am doing this in a very rural area where I know I am not going to encounter traffic. Normally this is not really an option and so I have not tried accelerating like this on this bike. I would say that it may have lost a little power since I took on the bike but I am not certain and I have no basis for this information beyond my own impressions of the bikes performance. That is to say in far to many words, I am not sure if the problem is a problem at all of has existed prior to this point (if it exists at all). I still think that maybe this is the nature of this lighter class bike than an actual performance issue.
The Buddha: I would venture as far as to say I am a noob, as painful as that may be, and although I have taken apart the engine on my last bike and rebuilt it I do not understand some of the technical lingo. Or rather, I think I know what you are saying but I want to make sure that I am following along with the mod procedure you gave. Could you dumb it down a couple notches?

Don't sweat it dude. When Buddha talks about carbs it's like E F Hutton we all listen. I think he sleeps with a carburator under his pillow at night! And as far as noob status? You took apart and rebuilt the last bike you had? Um not Noob! Your way farther advanced then most riders. I think there are two kinds of riders; those that just ride and ride; and those that know what they are riding and feel safe knowing that :thumb:
Not trying to steal the thread or anything but while we're on the topic of re-jetting I'd like to ask a quick Q.
On my 2001 I went to a #20 pilot, two washers on the needles, and 2.5-3 turns out. I pulled the plugs after a couple months of riding with the changes and they show signs of a lean condition. Should I look at stepping up the mid or main, or could it be the mixture screws. I'm kinda thinking about putting new plugs in, letting it idle for a bit and then checking the plugs. What do you guys think.
