Title: Choke Cable (Different Lengths for Different Years?)
Post by: cboling on July 23, 2009, 06:51:48 AM
I just bought a replacement choke cable off Ebay for my 96. I believe this cable was from an 04. When I installed it, It turns out to be a bout 1/2" too short at the ball end near the carburetor.  Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to fix it? New cable for proper year?

Thanks,
CB

89 is shorter than all the others.
The thing though is I thought 01+ was even longer by a smidge.
Route it to the left of the neck through the hole in the frame. Saves you some room.
Cool.

Yep. I did that. I actually just tried to fit it without the carb installed and what seems to be happening, If I install the end at the carb, there isn't enough length to connect the paddle and vise versa. It I do get it squeezed together, the choke is fully set and there is no cable left for release. Weird.

I had the exact same problem. It doesn't make sense. I solved it by making the choke lever pivot farther forward to make up that extra inch.
