Title: WTB: Clubman-style Bars
Post by: Narcissus on July 29, 2009, 08:29:28 PM
Hey all,

I'm looking to replace the rusting '98 stock bars on my '04 GS with some handsome Clubman-style bars! I live on the east coast of Canada but for those of you in the US please respond if you're willing to ship them to me in the frigid north!

I'm only interested in bars which, will fit my 2004 GS500 without cutting and welding (presumably 10" center) or bars that come with risers (6.5" center with 1-1/8" risers).

If you have something you're willing to part with shoot me an e-mail at jayc449@hotmail.com

I'll also be checking my PMs daily.

They're something like $20 from a handful of online parts dealers, check there.

I've found a few dealers online that are selling them for about $20 USD and are willing to ship them to Canada, although they ship via methods that cost as much or more than the part itself! Paying $50 USD for a new warrants some searching for a used set of bars ha ha ha.

You're kidding, $50 to ship a metal bar across the border, that's crazy. Good luck to you!

I made some bars that are the narrow center and I can toss in a 4 of the GS pillow blocks as risers. I'd like `25 for the lot, and it has a welded center, IMHO, clubman's are too wide and too low.

I can do USPS to canada. 15-20 for that prolly.
Cool.

That sounds reasonable. I'm not opposed to the idea of using bars that have been cut and welded I just didn't want to have to go looking for someone to do it to a pair of bars with a 6.5" center.

What is the measurement of the center on your bars?
Is the finish black?
Is the finish damaged along sections of the bars which, will not be covered by the blocks, grips, choke, ect.?
Is there a drop?

I'm assuming that I'll be doing this sort of thing with the set of blocks?

I prefer black as I've gone over everything at the front end of my bike with black paint and chrome bars would stand out as the only piece of chrome on my bike. If there is anything that becomes available in black hit me up, thanks for the offer though! I really appreciate the responses.
