Title: pressure sensor removal

Hey guys,

I am planning on replacing the switch assy on my '04 GS500F, the engine light keeps coming on around 6k RPM and I think it's a faulty switch.

Can I remove the switch (#28) without doing an oil change?
Can you guys give me some pointers or things I should watch out for when I'm changing this? I am not sure what I'm going to see when I remove it, will there be a couple of wires?

the sensor is under the signal generator cover, there is only one wire going to it.  no need for an oil change

Is #28 the right one to unscrew? the diagram doesn't really tell me much but I guess I'm going to see the wire when I unscrew it?

Edit: Ok, I guess you meant cover #13? I'm new to bikes please be patient with me lol..

(What the heck is that block mark after I opened up the Switch Assy #28)

Kind of confused as to what to replace if I think its a faulty pressure sensor..
Can anyone whos done this help me out?

Anyone?

Basically I am still having the same problem as before where the engine light keeps coming on and off at around 5-6k RPM on 6th gear usually. It doesn't come on otherwise...

You cant just remove the pressure sensor, you have to put in a bolt of the right thread and it better be tapered too.
BTW get a autometer or some other high end electronic guage setup and run that out into the roght side of the bike, and up the frame and run a pressure guage.

You really really really dont want to be putting in a block off bolt in the one and only pressure warning fitting you are ever going to see on this Idiotic bike.

I guess my title was a little misleading..

What I wanted to know was which one in the picture was the pressure sensor so I can remove it and replace it with a new sensor.

The pressure sensor is the part attached to the green/yellow wire.
#28 in the parts diagram.

And you undo the wire fitting and get that larger socket on the body of the thing and take it off that way. And,
I suspect its tapered, so you tighten it right, dont just keep on screwing it in waiting for it to bottom out. Cos it will bottom out when it splits your case.
