I put a lot of work in the sword lol...started with a nail. Pounded it out and folded the steel once. Pounded it again and shaped it. Put an edge to it...I could have shaved with it before I polished it. Got her filed down, sanded smooth, and put a good shine on it. I even went in and added a few nicks like he'd been in a sword fight haha.
I did this one on request lol...not too complex but no one's had any issues identifying it.

The reaper's $15 homie! I'll give GST members free shipping.
OMG!!! That ninja is PERFECT!!! lol. Me and my friend have this ninja joke going on... I'll see if she wants it.
GREAT job!
:thumb:
I want one for sure.. Just dont know what I like better :icon_mrgreen:
I think the reaper :thumb:
need to clarify...not all of the pieces are $15. The ones like the Ninja are going to go for $25...for the Ninja I did the math and at $25 I'll earn about $1.18/hr lol.
Hmm, maybe make one on a motorcycle and charge a little more for it? I don't really have that much money to spare right now, or I'd definitely be looking into this. Great work though, man, I love these kinda things.
I don't have a guy for it but I modeled this loosely around an old Duc 750SS

The "friend" part is permanant. :(
What did that cost you :flipoff: :flipoff: ( jk btw)
Jerk. lol j/k
makenzie71 I'd have to say those are cool as hell. Where did you come with the idea? You need to put some of those on E-bay if you're not all ready.
The Ninja is definitely over the top Awesome! The Reaper pointing is pretty over the top too. On average how long does it take you to make one of them minus the sword of course?
And "she" Um OK
Ta da...

I was asked to a do wheelchair hand stand. There was way too much work involved for so little detail...that part somewhat frustrates me. It's very top-heavy and pretty much NEEDS to be on a stand all the time but, as seen, it IS free-standing (for some reason I put a lot of importance in that lol).
Also whipped up the new Desk Ninja...

I'm irritated because I put 1/4 the work into the sword on this one and it looks identical to the other lol. Makign the little swords and scythes, though, has prompted me into make a few other things. My next project is going to be a "Damascus" steel letter opener...about a 6" blade. I'll be making it by forging stainless and mild steels together...since it won't be a "real blade", per say, I'm might add some bronze in there for contrast. I'm looking forward to it.
Dude! Those are soooooo cool. Johny 5 Need more input! More pictures please!
How about a hockey player. You have them in Texas right :D
Yet...we got the Gorillas in Amarillo.
I've considered a hockey player, but right now I'm getting too many requests lol.
I got the reaper in the mail today...
IT IS FLAT OUT AWESOME!!!
Photos do not do these sculptures justice. They are AWESOME pieces of art! Nice work man, VERY NICE! :thumb:
THANKS MAK!
I was happy to do it! Yeah pictures take ALL of the dimension out of the pieces. The complex ones like the ballerinas and such...they just look like jumbles of wire in photos...it's disappointing.
Well, you might be able to do better (on the pictures) with some adjustments to how you take the pictures - point and shoot will usually have that effect. Good photography, like good wire-twisting, is a bit of an art itself. And it will help sell the things on the 'bay, IMHO.
I'll not pretend to be all that wonderful, though I did take some classes way back in high school, and have done some work in particular fields as part of some jobs I've held.
You ideally (to bring out 3-D, in my opinion) want several sources of light, from different directions, with different intensities (ie, a bright light from the left and a light about half that bright (or twice as far away) from the right - you can do it all with a window and reflectors (need not be mirrors - even white paper can work, or tinfoil on cardboard) - in that case the window provides the stronger light, the reflector(s) provide the weaker light from other directions.

DoD, that's pretty sick. Definitely noting this for the future.
My wife is a photographer :)...carouse our Etsy shop and you'll see the pictures she's taken. Not any of them show the proper dimension. It just can't be done with work of this nature. The pieces are too small and with the wire having no variations in color or texture...it just gets lost.

YAY 3 SALES! Plus some in-person stuff lol
Here's what I whipped up over the weekend:
I'm a huge dragon fan...books and movies with dragons on the cover or that have a vague mention of dragon in it means I'll have to see/read it...so, it's just gonna happen that I make a dragon or two.
This one hangs...the bottle was a bad "ledge" but it was all that was available.
A little shotgun piece:
A new Reaper...added some copper to the scythe. It's nowhere near as cool as the first, but I have a crazy knack for making things awesome the first time around and then never duplicate them.
Also had a couple requests for reapers with wings...not quite finished but here's what I got:
This one has gotten pretty popular. I just made it for my neighbor...they're having a baby and have had some issues getting this far. I think I'll try to make another to see if I can get some more "emotion" into the piece, but, like I said above, probably not...

makenzie71 that is some of the most creative stuff I have ever seen! Have you ever thought of doing one of the Marines with the flag at Iwo Jima? I personally collect BuzzLightYear toys. Think you could do one of him? :dunno_black:
I haven't thought about the Marines...I'll keep that one in mind. Buzz Lightyear would be a bit difficult to add the necessary level of detail I think.
lookin good man! The one w/ the baby is AWESOME!
Everyone at work loves my Reaper! Its right on my desk pointing at me.
Thanks! You can tell them where you got them :thumb: That's why we have the "request custom item link" on our etsy store...
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7391684 (just to plug it again lol)
I'm going to have more uploaded today.
All right, how much for a ninja and the shotgunner?
They're $15 each...I'm doing free shipping for the GST'ers. The one Desk Ninja is on our Etsy site and I do prefer people buy through our store so we can register the sale. If you're serious about it, I'll add the Shotgunner to the store.
wow I made a lot since I last updated this:

This was a special request from a local...a little branding scene. I'm not entirely happy with the base or the lack of cowboy hats. Cowboy hats would be awesome...just having issues making them.
