Post by: mister on August 02, 2009, 11:20:46 PM
Got a camera so I could film club rides. This is a little video I shot by way of a test... from downunder Australia where were drive/ride on the left side of the road...

You mean you RIDE on the WRONG side of the road... HAHAHA!

Hey man, good work in that video, which I hope a LOT of GSTwinners take the time to watch... According to the stats shown on the YouTube page, I was the second viewer, so it will be interesting to see how many views it gets over the next few days / weeks / months.

Now, we want MORE on-bike videos!

Keep filming, but remember to ride safely while you do it.

Wow, looks really nice down there, very clean, haha.  Way too flat for me though, I'd go insane.  Looks too much like Ohio to me.

New rider here. Got a GS500K5 for my first bike. I'm from Brisbane, noticed the vid is from Ipswich (recognised the new Japan style overpass on the Cunningham Highway). Great vid, looked very smooth  :thumb: Such great riding conditions in south east QLD at the moment.

As for flat, it is around that area. But just 30km (about 20 miles) away, we have Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious and a bit further on is Mt Mee which are motorcycle magnets. miles and miles of curves. (Map (http://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&ll=-27.203343,152.741547&spn=0.708403,1.164551&z=10&msid=106100619686239251651.0004703c75ac233f9ca2d))

Haha that's weird, there's a Mt Nebo here in Pittsburgh too.  Flat land in general just weirds me out.  :dunno_white:

Yep, that was the New on ramp connecting the Centenary H'way with the Cunningham H'Way (don't ride that new road at night. no lights whatsoever, bugs everywhere and, of course, roos around).

Also, head south for a bit through Boonah and you'll have enough hills to keep you busy as well. But if you do the Queen Mary Falls run from Boonah you got to watch for the cows on the road (not fenced) and the couple of floodways that have water on them but otherwise it's a nice run.

Then heading to Warwick you have Cunningham's Gap on the main road. But we often will take the backroads through MaMa Creek and up to Clifton. Then on the Toowoomba side you have a nice big hump as well. Again, take the side and back roads maybe even go via Esk (from which road you can get to Mt Glorious just after Fernvale) and then up through the Hampton twisties. Or keep going north from Esk to Kilcoy. And even the Glasshouse Mountains a little further north.

Further South we have the Springbrook, Tamborine stuff. With Cunungra being a Motorcycle Mecca on a Sunday for that very reason.

There is Plenty of hilly stuff and bendy stuff around this area. All within 20 - 30 minutes of the city. And also an hour in either direction - while the backroads are enjoyable on your way there.

Also, the camera makes it deceptive. From leaving the driveway it was all up hill until just before the stop sign. Down to the roundabout then back up to the first set of lights at which time you can see the horizon as we're at the top of a hill. But generally, the township is pretty flat. But we're right on the corner of some great Not Flat such as these (all taken on a Queen Mary Falls run)...

Yeah, some nice stuff around here.

As for Nice Winter's Day... HA, we have weather closer to Florida than Toronto  :icon_mrgreen: BUT I'd still ride until there was snow/ice on the road. Guys at work think I'm nuts, hardcore, hard, crazy, plain wierd, etc. for riding when it's 1°C  :thumb:

Fail.   :flipoff:

I'd like to visit down there sometime.  Maybe once I make some money in this world and buy myself a passport...
