They might not have many specifics as far as the GS goes, but you can get a ton of good info about that stuff on customfighters.com. Half the bikes on there have replaced swingarms, so you could definitely get some good general info on it.

cut/hack til it fits
or
measure about 12 times /make plans and send parts off to the machine shop so they can cut/hack with really expensive tools

measure width of swing arm pivot shaft of both
take diff...about 1 inch(i reallly don't remember exact length)
pull center support out
press the brgs into the pivot shaft hole
cut 1/2 inch off each side
pivot axle is bigger diam on B-12
either drill out the frame or make new inner bushings for the brgs to fit a GS axle
check alignment of shock linkage
adjust as needed

test fit about 50 times

Buddha Loves You gripe throw tools.....repeat as nec.
then there is the interference issues with the foot pegs
and chain alignment

have fun

RGV250 is easier since it is actually narrower than the GS at the pivot shaft

servus,

look here for the installation:

  http://www.gs-500.info/index.php?title=Bandit_600_rocker_in_GS

it´s a very good instruction to do a b6/b12 swingarm in the gs500. thanxx goose.

the offset sprocket is not the problem by using 180/70-17.

put it together and mount the chain, then you see, if you need a offsetsprocket.
