Title: Sprocket confusion
Post by: abnoea on August 04, 2009, 03:17:18 PM
I just need a quick clarification about part numbers. I have a '99 GS500e and using the wiki I ordered a JTF 434 going off of the link at the bottom of the page saying that it fits "all years of GS500" But this morning I double checked the wiki and realized that in the content of the page it lists the JTF 516 as the correct sprocket. Is the 434 interchangeable or am I going to have to return it when it arrives?

I doubt you will be able to use it.  If you look at the dimensions of the spline, they are quite different.

Yeah, I noticed that but I wanted to ask before I paid postage to return the wrong part

I just called Bike Bandit after I picked out my sprocket to double check.  I know they might not know but at least that is an option.  I think at some point, the people selling stuff need to provide a little bit of service and knowledge.  Call the place you are ordering it from and ask them.  If they can't help you, order from a place that knows what they are selling.

I emailed them-- Fay Myers Motor co (through Amazon)-- and he told me the 516 is what I need. I think its just a bad link thats left on the wiki, some item IDs must have gotten changed on the JT site.
