Title: crashed bike essentials

Hey all,

I wanna start by saying a big THANK YOU to everyone who helped with my last posting concerning my bike frame swap.
I ended up having the fork stop welded and it saved me a bunch of cash and works fine.

So I got in my parts from suzi and put them all on: clutch lever, instrument mounting frame, headlamp unit et al. but the bike... i guess its obvious, sounds and runs a little differently then before i binned it.

being that i'd like to get back to riding confidently, i was wondering what sorts of things i should look at for sure?
so far i've checked my forks and the alignment is ok and there is no leaking from them, and their motion is smooth.
my handlesbars are secure, and the brakes work fine, the chain has a couple sticky spots but im trying to work some lube in there...


should i look at the carburetor? in my mind its an intricate little guy and im not sure where to start but i imagine something could have jostled around in there... i guess a sort of low-side at around 50kph...

the bike runs, i've been out and about with her already, but the power isn't nearly what it used to be. its certainly feels dampened.

any help or suggestions would be awesome.

hmm.. the carbies dont so much have many moving parts that wont get back into position after a lowside. first off check your plugs... if the carbs belched all their gas into the cylinder when it was down, they may be sooty and black.. that would screw up your power delivery.

otherwise perhaps you need to pull the carbs apart and clean them out.. maybe a little grit got jostled around and is now stuck in some of your circuits.


or now that you've manned up and crashed a motorcycle its time to get a faster bike. i reccommend a hayabusa. :icon_eek:
