Hey all, finally got some decent compression in the old GS, as I was reassembling everything the tee in between the top of carbs broke and fell off... What is this for? It was never connected to anything, can I simply put a piece of tubing in between the carbs and not have the tee part?
The part in question is #58

Thanks!
Hello,
I hope you are referring to #56, that is the upper T connector.
This is the overflow connector, do not block it, or connect the carbs together. Better to leave it as it is.
Whoops! you're right #56, I misread that... That's what I thought it was but wasn't sure...
Thanks!
It wouldn't be a bad idea to connect a tube to the tee so you don't spill gas on top of your engine if it floods. The stock tube is routed down near the brake pedal, I think.
Yeah, I would just take 2 tubes, attach one to each, tape them together, and run them down the back of the engine a little. Mine only have a 7 inch tube on it anywhere that goes to nowhere. If you're really crafty you could mount one tube connecting the two, cut a hole, and then glue and tape another tube onto it, but that sounds like a lot more work.
Yes TT four is right and yes so is vsg (but it wont flood into the top area unless you have a bad petcock and a bad float and even so it will dump into the airbox before the top prolly) but if you drop the bike, it will safely exit the fuel in the carbs.
Cool.
Buddha.
