Title: Airbox fittings- carb probs
Post by: hawkeye on October 07, 2003, 03:20:35 AM
Folks,

I have just bought an original model european GS500 from the early 1990's. It appears to be missing a cap on the air-box, but I don't know if this is just how it is. When I remove the seat, I can see directly into the airbox under the tank - as I can see/touch the airfilter, I figure this is not right. Also, as I am having classic 'too-much-air' mix problems (running hot, high tick over, loud booming), which actually lead me to check out the air-box in the first place. Anyone have any ideas? I have a foto if this helps...

cheers

The airbox is visible and you look right down into the filter when you take off seat. You might have other problems though, like vaccum cap missing on the carbs, or other crap, in addition to overall lean jetting.. oh wait euro bikes were better... Does it have 40/125 pilots and mains... then its pretty good... you might just be sucking air.
Cool.
