This is the only motorcycle forum I'm a member of so this is the place I have to ask. I have a problem putting on helmets, they fold my ears on top of each other. I don't even have big ears, they're quite straight.I have a size L and a size M helmet and have tried other helmets and always the same thing. Trying to hold them to my head while sliding the helmet on doesn't work either, same thing happens. I can eventually wiggle and shake them sort of into place, this is much easier with the size L helmet then M, but the size M feels more secure and snug on my head, so whenever I try to shake them into place it looks quite foolish. Anybody else have this problem? Is there a trick or technique that I can try to fix this annoying dillema? Thanks

when i put my helmet on i use the chin strap like handles but i also pull out on them to kinda hold the padding out a bit with putting on my helmet.
I wear one of those HD-redneck dew rags with the ties in the back.
It will definitely fix the folded ear problem but for me, its a hygiene
issue. The inside of a helmet gets N-A-S-T-Y :mad:
You can take the dewrag thingee out and wash it every nite and it
goes a long way to keeping your head and helmet kootie free :thumb:
Try this. When you're putting on your helmet, pull out the chin straps so the padding is slightly pulled to either side. Bring the helmet to the front of your forehead and rock it back and downward onto your head. This prevents you smashing your ears because it's forcing the ears to lay flat against the head instead of just pulling the helmet straight down onto your noodle.

SIR you are a genius. It's still a tad awkward but works for the most part. thank god, I thought I had to go out and buy a do rag and it looks better than shaking the helmet back and forth to get em straight. saved me a lot of headache. or should I say, ear ache. :thumb:

I think some helmets fold ears more than others. My AGV S-4 is a b*tch when it comes to ear folding and of course ear pain. I eventually had to modify the cheek pads to accommodate my ears. I've heard this is a common complaint with this helmet, although my girlfriend has the same one and no complaints. It might just be the wrong helmet for my head because the Sparx helmet I have has no ear folding tendencies.
those skull caps that cyclists, runners, and athletes use are actually a big help in warm or cold weather. you'll see motorcyclists use them in motogp too. the material these caps are made of wicks away sweat. i never thought anything of it until i tried it.
and yes, it'll be easier to put on your helmet! :thumb:
