Title: problem turn left it reves up.
Post by: BunnerRabbit on October 07, 2003, 10:30:08 AM
Ok i wrecked the bike awhile back and and now have got around to fixing it. Anyway  its back together and I have a problem. When you turn left it streches the  cable and reves up. I cant see any other way to run the cable and I didnt have it all apart just changed the h-bars. same bar though. any ideas?

When you removed the throttle from the old bar and installed in on the new you got the cable hooked on wrong and/or didn't adjust the cable at the carbs.

I did it too when I was playing with 'Lita's carbs last. I would rev when turned right.  Had to take it all apart and reassemble it playing with it until it stopped binding.
Title: Left revving...

Left revving means its a democrat, you have to supply Clinton with a fat ..... Never mind... Anyway left revving was throttle cable and right revving was choke...atleast in the case of my bike, it has re fabbed and longer choke and throttle cables. YMMV.
Cool.

Ok i adjusted the cable and moved the H-bars back some getting the cable a little closer. It dont rev up now maybe 100 rpm. Anyway whats the normal idle rpm? around 1000rpm? Also I am conserned about the clutch adjustment. It stals out real easy not sure if its the bike or me. I cant get it to go without stalling it out. might be just me I cant ride and right hand is in cast. adjusting it on the handle. if its to loose and to tight what will happen?
Title: Idle ~1500

I like to set the idle a touch high...13-1500... Makes a little more oil pressure and overall a litte better for it. And you need to have 3K on the tach before letting out the clutch and you need to give it throttle so it stays there as you let out the clutch and load it up. And no you should not do it if you arm is in a cast.
Cool.

ok thanks, Im not realy trying to ride it just go strait line in yard in 1st gear to see if it works. my tach idles at 1100 at most I try to go at about 2000 and just try to maintain that. Think I need to just leave it alone and let someone that knows how to ride good test it out.

You can adjust the clutch cable at the handbar lever. Turn the knob outwards and clutch will release slower. Might be your problem.

Bike should idle cold at 1000rpms and rise to 1500rpms after running a while.
