This is my trail tech vapor install.
Since there isn't much info about it on this forum about it, I'll be the one to answer if you got question about the install! It's pretty easy, to install... I have little experience in these type of install!
This is my first impression about it!
The display is plenty bright once it's supplied with 12V power. I did buy the additional dash indicator to be able to keep the basic info ( oil, neutral, turn signal and high beam)
Once calibrated the speedo is very accurate, the reason I know... I got my GPS right next to it, and it was spot on the speed ( ok, maybe + ou – 0.5kph sometimes )
-Install was easy, just remove the stock speedo ( I kept the original wiring with the indicator that just slide in no problem in the aftermarket dash indicator)
-Just sliced the 12v from the dash light to supply power
-Installed the temperature monitor on the spark plug
-replace one of the front rotor bolt by a magnet bolt that was supplied, then put the sensor on the front fork back to the speedo
-for the tach, I took it from the entrance of the coil on the right side ( the yellow wire. Btw remember to get the resistored tach cable )
Here are the pics, I'm gonna fabricate something better to install it to put in more in the stock position. Soo this is only temporary till I figure something else
( I still need to clean up the cables in the back , soo please don't say the wires are messy)
let me know if anyone have questions

Looks like it belongs there. Nice
Looks good, I have the Veypor (different than vapor) on my bike and I love it.
you should clean up the install though, your wires are messy :icon_lol:

well the contrast is very good and lighting is strong!! tho is more on the handlebar than the stock position right now. I do have to look down to see the speed!, but it's all good!
but the speed is the biggest number on the screen soo it's easy to see!
First and foremost, EXCELLENT JOB. Looks good where it is even if its a temp. If i go through with this.. thanks to you.. now i have to spend more money on this GS >:( . I will try to see how it looks attached to the area just below the windshield. There is a nice spot there.

I am not sure how our tach works now but.... isnt there a wire already running to our current tac now that we can just disconnect and attach to the vaypor tach cable? probably cant be that easy. I have an 08.

I got a 04 with the electric tach, but using my voltmeter, I couldn't figure which wire to take!! soo I went like where the user's manual said plus what I read from another install from the forum.
one wire to the yellow wire from the right coil. and the other one to the ground, works great

just letting you know, rode it during the day a couple of times and no problem reading the speedo at all!!
but since those indicator are tinted, I do have problem noticing them unless I look at them directly in sunny days!

I got a 04 with the electric tach, but using my voltmeter,
I've got a couple questions considering I don't know anything about electrics. Do the newer bikes run the tachometer off of electrical wires instead of the spinning cable that my '91 has? I'm also not completely sure I understand how the spinning speedometer cable converts to electrics too, unless you still screw the cable in the back, and the new speedometer just reads it like normal and converts it to a digital number. I'm sure they stuff wasn't covered in your instructions because it's obvious to someone who knows, but that's not me.
Looks good by the way. I bet you could just make a bracket with some aluminum and some nuts and bolts that would bolt onto the top clamp like the original did.

04 is an electric tach ( how it works, I have no clue :dunno_white:)
, but then again, I haven't use any of the original cables ( mecanical or electric tach wire) of the bike, you can remove both of those mecanical tach and still get the reading from the coil I guess. like I meantionned before one wire to the yellow wire from the right coil. and the other one to the ground, works great
