Title: Looking for a Frame w/ clean title
Post by: kappa2006 on August 20, 2009, 02:20:29 PM
Hey everyone.  was just lucky enough to pick up my first gs500e.  Mint shape, 2001, with only 2600 miles on her, but the frames bent in the rear.  Looking for a replacement frame with a clean title.  Have cash ready, and am located in RI.  But I'm willing to pay for shipping if its too far to pick up.  Either PM me, or email me at Bkappa2006@yahoo.com if you can help me out.  Thanks everyone, and hoping to get her back on the road asap!

Rear ... bent ... put up a pic, but I suggest straightening it and welding it, its steel, you can weld it 13 ways from sunday at any muffler shop .. you can throw on steel rods and brace it and weld triangle or angle section steel gussets and strengthen it 100,000 % ...

Or someone here that has hacked off the rear can sell you a good one. I have hacked a few up, but I think I tossed it, or paid my welder with that or some crap like that. Oh yea no 01+ in my life ... so wont work anyway.

Cool.

When I first got the bike, that was my plan.  The frame is easily fixable.  I have welding experience myself, but the catch is, the bike was totaled (bent frame, cracked fairings, scratched fork and engine cover).  and here in RI, only a licensed salvage mechanic can perform the repairs, and they have to document all paperwork, including paperwork from the insurance company, repair order for all repairs, receipts for all parts, before and after pictures of the damage, ect. So it would be very expensive to have it fixed by one of these mechanics.  So thats why I want another frame wiith good paperwork...so I can just swap everything over and register it with the new title that came wiith the frame.

OK you win ... but you can move to a place like North Click ... where they'd let you title any thing you drag in our motor vehicle bureau ...
Cool.

I wish it was that easy here..but RI usually makes things way more difficult than they should be.  I'll wait it out a few weeks to see if I can locate a usable frame.  If not, I heard a rumor that NH allows you to repair salvage vehicles yourself...as long as you get it inspected before registering.  So if all else fails, I know a few people up there haha.

if you have a good friend in another state, transfer the title to them, then when they get their title back, have them transfer the title back to you.  "might" fix your problem
