Title: Won't Start...Battery?
Post by: bbaw8 on August 21, 2009, 07:38:10 AM
So I am trying to sell my bike and when I went to fires it up after about 3 weeks to month it wont start. the lights and horn work fine but when I I try to start it, it tries to turn but then clicks. After trying 4-5 more times now it just click and doesn't try to turn over. Could this be my battery?

+1 to Josh's comment, but if the battery won't hold a charge more than a few weeks get a new battery for the new owner.  Don't screw him/her.

How do I push start it. I tried to start it while rolling. Same result I don't want to screw anybody thats why I wanted to check it out first anyway. It used to start fine.

Nevermind just saw a video on youtube on how to push start. I haven't tried that.

My battery won't hold a charge anymore when i let it sit for a couple of weeks without use and i know i need to replace it.  I have found that when it does sit for a few weeks it will start if i unplug the headlight first and then start it (F model).  Don't know if the E is as easy to unplug but that helps get it started sometimes if you aren't parked in a spot where you have enough room to bump start it.
