Hello all. I am getting ever so close to having my bike on the road. Street legal and all. One of the things that I am still debating on is whether or not to install the Ducati Monster fairing that I got. I have started making some mounting brackets for it and can probably finish it without much hassle but each time I sit the fairing on the bike, I have doubts if I want it on there or not. I like the looks of it both ways and can't decide so I thought I would ask here and let your opinions help me. I'm going to run this for 3 days before the final tally.
Thanks,
CB

without :)
I voted without, but I like bikes naked, so it's just a preference. It doesn't look bad with it, and it's a big enough screen that it looks like it could do a good bit for you at speed.
Without for me.
Also, if there is a doubt then there is no doubt. So, if you have doubts about it, then there is no doubt and it should be left off :icon_mrgreen:
Michael
I like naked bikes too. That's the main reason I am torn.
Good point Mister.
I voted without... My 11-year-old son saw the without pic and said "Eww, with! Definitely" But if it was mine, I'd see if it actually does some good. If so, I'd leave it on. I'm a function over form kind of guy anyway.
Doesnt look bad with but I would have to go without.
I vote for with, as the gold bar looks out of place, and it looks like it is big enough to provide some protection
Its a chick with the fairing. Not a chick bike, its a chick ...
Cool.
Buddha.
Please without is so much better, why do u even ask :nono: :D
Okay, who voted for "Get a different one and sell this one to me" ? Don't tease, cause I just might do it. O0 :thumb:
I vote without. Not just because I prefer naked bikes, but I don't think it matches the lines of the bodywork, tank, and fender. It doesn't really look like it belongs on the bike for that reason. If you decide to go with a cafe fairing, try to find one that matches the bike better, not in color, but shape. Bike looks fine otherwise, nice work!
Without. Always.
without. It hides your fancy color matched headlight bucket.
It looks kind of bare without it. Is the instrument cluster already installed on the bike? If so, I'd say go with some sort of small screen. If not, it should take up that extra space and it'd look better without.
Yep. I have a Veypor unit installed but I am still working out the mounting. Right now it looks like this:

but I am still working on the LED bar and it's mounting setup and some different details. Also waiting for the aluminum veypor case to come before I finish mounting it more permanently.
It's still going to be somewhat bare.

I'm not a HUGE fan of naked, but I voted without.
Awesome color BTW.

same thing here.
this tiny fairing just looks out of place.
I voted with just because it looks kindof bizarre to me with nothing there... :dunno_white:
If you want an easy to mount fairing that looks alright, try to track down a buell fairing. The older ones were meant to be used with that style headlight, as opposed to the newer ones with the smaller dual lights.
I got one for Heather's bike, and it fits in nicely and isn't any wider than the actual headlight so it doesn't look out of place. I think it looks really good, but she doesn't like it, so sometimes I'll mount it on there for a couple days before she notices and says "what's that doing on there?!" and then I take it off. I'll see if I can find a picture later, or more importantly, if I remember that I said I would.
How much would you sell the ducati windscreen for?
well, since this isn't the B/S/T forum, I will be cautious to only mention what I paid for the fairing and screen.
I got the fairing portion for right around $40 off fleebay.
And then I located which screen went with it for $75+, also on fleebay.
So minus any bolts and aluminum rod and what not trying to make it fit, I paid around $115-ish. I might be interested in trades and such if I decide to sell or get rid of it. I am leaning the direction most everyone else is. When I bought it, I didn't think it would be sooooo big. (At least to me it looks big and as stated, out of place.) Not terrible but just not right either. Of course, my luck, someone would buy it and get it mounted and I would be like "Awwww mannnn, that looks freakin' cool!" :dunno_white:

I vote with. This is one of my favorite GS looks.
I would like to add a similar fairing and chin spoiler to mine some day.
What mirrors do you have on there (OP)? They look awesome.
Who, me? The ones I have are off Ebay from China. I thought they were listed as black aluminum, but they are plastic. Still decent but, you really can't see behind you. Strike 2 for Chinese mirrors. I guess, I need to find a good set of bar end mirrors with some weights to help with the little bit of vibration in the bars.
Stay tuned, I may have a good bit of stuff to sell and the mirrors may be included in that group.
Wow! It looks like the majority of you do not like the look of this particular fairing / windscreen on the bike. Well, thanks to all that voted and provided some good feedback. I am not going to install the screen at least for a while. I may look around a bit and see if there is something else that I would like better or if maybe I just want to leave it alone altogether.
Like I mentioned, I may be putting this one up for sale but for now, I will just wait and see. IF anyone is really really interested in this, shoot me a pm and we can discuss some options.
Thanks again.

Normally I like small windscreens, but yours is just ugly.
Awwww mannn, no need to hate on the windscreen.
I actually really like it, I just think it needs to be painted to match the bike.
Hmmmm, maybe. I think I agree with everyone that the screen itself, just doesn't fit this bike correctly. It just seems all wrong. Having ridden the bike the past couple of days, I can see where a larger screen could help keep some wind off especially on longer rides and freeway.
I really like the carbon fiber but have also thought about a color matched screen. I have some other ideas that I am considering as well but it would require me to make a mold, then get carbon fiber in a red color. It would be a much different front end without the round headlight so I am still thinking on that one. Gotta get some cardboard out and mock it up.
