So somebody pushed my bike over in the parking lot, and now there's white powdery stuff all over the kickstand / chain / cowling cover. Anyone know what this is? Is it safe to ride?
fall/pushed over on the left side(shifter side)?
wash the white powder off and put some baking powder on it
scrub it in with a old tooth brush
you lost some battery acid.... and you need to neutralize the acid with a base(baking powder)
also check the battery fluid level and add some distilled water
hope this helps
awesome, thanks! yeah it was the left side, i'm pretty ticked off  second time this has happened in two weeks....the first time i wrote it off as the wind pushing it over (it was kind of windy, and fell on the right side) but there's no way this just fell over on the left
what type of surface were you parked on?
I found my GS almost tipped over on the left side (kickstand side) on a 100+ day due to the kickstand sinking into the asphalt parking lot.
eeeewwwww white stuff all over your bike!!!
I second the check your surface...and your slope. Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to stupidity. Speaking from experience...broke my clutch lever (again) a few weeks ago because I parked downhill on my slopped driveway(again...).
The ground is asphalt, but completely flat, under a large tree, and the hottest it's been lately is 85, usually mid 70's. The reason I assumed somebody tipped it is because (I'm dumb for doing this) it's parked near the sidewalk of a main road that borders a college campus, and said street is commonly the main route to and from parties. I suppose that's my own fault. I just find it funny that both times it has gone down perfectly still, more damage has been caused than when I low-sided it
Those CSU punks can be mean, lol.
