Title: Am I ordering the right chain/sprockets?
Post by: dohabee on September 03, 2009, 11:56:45 AM
From what I can tell the stuff I am ordering will work on my 2002 gs500 but I just want to make sure.

Can somebody confirm that the following items will work?

Front sprocket: JTF516-15

Rear sprocket: JTR823-39

Chain: MOOSE RACINGĀ® 520 HPO O-RING CHAIN - 110 link

Yes if you're replacing oem 16T front with a 15T.

Yeah I thought I would give the 15t a try since I don't commute on the highway much anymore.

Thanks for the conformation.

I actually like th 15t better than 16t in both city and highway riding. passing is very easy without shifting and it is less than 2mpg worse on highway. I get 3mpg better in the city with the 15t too. plus my top speed went up.

awesome that is good to hear, I am looking forward to the increased acceleration.

My chain recently started feeling really rough and was making some unsettling noises so I took the sprocket cover off to inspect.

It was really dirty in there but I found a shiny cylindrical metal thing.

Turns out it was one of the rollers from my chain.  :dunno_white: I don't get how that hapened
