Title: master cylinder & caliper piston bore diameter?
Post by: BIG.FISH on September 04, 2009, 06:23:45 AM
Anyone know the piston bore diameter for the master cylinder and the caliper pistons on the front brake of a 2002 gs500?

I am trying to figure out the surface area ratio between the two as I am considering changing up the m/c on my old Honda.  My GS stops and I like the feel of the brake, so I am aiming for something like that.

I believe the m/c is 11mm whatever it is, somewhere on the thing it says it.
Caliper ...   :dunno_black: ... but it has 2 different ones on the 89-96 genre for sure.

Cool.

my 90 master was a 14mm.  My 08 master was a 1/2.  Don't know about the rest

Of course they couldn't make it easy and all be the same throughout the years...  Anyone know what a 2002 is?  Or if it says on the m/c, where?  Do I have to take it apart to find it?

it will be stamped somewhere on there.  My 1/2 was cast into the master and you had to look under it to see it.  My 14 was a white paint stamp on the brake line end.  You might have to take the master off of the bars, but definately wont have to take it apart.

as an update:

my '02 was 1/2", cast into the m/c facing the bar - you could just barely see it with out taking it off the bar.
