i have a 2004 gs500, i'm having a problem starting my bike, i can pull in the cluch and try to start it and i get nothing, if i let out the cluch alittle and play with it some by trying to find the sweet spot i call it it will finaly start.. never had the problem all summer until a few weeks ago..now it seems it's getting harder to find the sweet spot.. when i go for a ride i get worried if i take a break somewhere i might not be able to get it started again..not the battery, once i hit that spot it starts with no problem.. i just don't get it..need help please..would hate to take it to the shop for something simple i can fix on my own..
thanks.. :dunno_white:
sounds like a faulty clutch safety switch. you should remove it and clean the contacts. it is on the bottom of the clutch perch
thanks for the help, your are right on with the problem, i took off the safety switch and thats what it was, i will have to order a new one because one screw was stripped along with the switch being cracked.looks like the prevous owner had the same problem and broke it putting it back together.. i just temp. wired it until i can get a new one. so thanks again for the help..can't get anuf of this forum.....
thanks...
