So I have had my bike sitting up on a jack for 3 weeks, swapping out the handlebars and headlight brackets to install clipons and new brackets. Finally get her put back together, drop her down, get her started then head to the store for some gas. I figured I had atleast a half a tank since I filled up before parking her then from the extended running I was generous giving it a half tank. Well long story short, no gas and had to walk my skinny redhead back up hill about a mile. Pissed off I ran out, bought a 2 gal gas can and filled it up. Battery was drained so I just filled her up and went inside. Now this was monday.
Today, I walk out to get her running so gave her a jump and let it run for about 3 minutes. It seemed to be running low on gas. First I went to checked the ON/OFF valve and when I removed the bolts...tank seemed MIGHTY light. And sure enough, bone dry. I think there is some son of a Buddha Loves You stealing gas from my GS. Anyone out there ever had this kind of theivery? Any ideas on how to discourage this...minus wiring it with C4?
doesnt your tank cap lock? so unless they have enough time to take your fuel line off your tank they cant get your gas. I would smell your oil if i was you.
gas cap is supposed to have a lock. place cardboard under bike, see if any is dripping off it over time.
My friend has had his gas drained via his fuel lines twice in 3 weeks. It only takes a few seconds to pop them off. but i would be hesitant to suspect theivery unless there is obvious tampering. I would follow joshr08 and jeremy_nash 's advice and check your oil and check for leaks/drips.
what type of bike does your friend have? Im betting your friends fuel lines arent hooked back up after the fuel has been stolen.
No gas in oil. No fuel is leaking out. I put another 2 gal in just now so we'll wait and see. I'll check for leaks again in about an hour.

2 gallons.... and no sign of it on the ground or in the oil means you've got a gas thief. takes about 3 seconds to pull the lines off the petcock, maybe 40 seconds to dump all the gas into a jerry can, then another 5 to put the lines back.
$7 for less than two minutes work = pretty good wages. i'd fill the tank with alchohol one night and wait for whoever did it to blow their lawnmower/weedeater/car/whatever when they go to use it ;)
I agree with ohgood. No gas on the ground or in your oil means it's being stolen. If the carbs were leaking or overflowing it would reek to high heaven after losing that much gas.

I would bet it's kids between the age of 14 and college age, not that they're going to college, otherwise they'd be too busy to steal your gas. Luckily, where I live kids steal bicycles but are too mechanically stupid to mess with my bike. You either need to put your bike in a locked location or set-up a camera to catch them, not that the cops will do anything about it if you do. Maybe if you lived in a small town they would, but not in a major city. Complaining about petit crimes in major cities has become sadly pointless.

First time the lines were hoked back up (surprisingly) he ran out of gas on the freeway after putting gas in the day before. the second time the lines were just cut. then a week or so later he woke up to find his tank empty (again), the bike on is side, the stand side, and all his plugs broke off in the cylinders. he has a 78 kz1000 and lives on OHIO State campuswith all the returds.I lived there for a 8months before leaving sick of the douches.
Here's a little update...
So we can call off the search for the Anal Monkeys, and the blame goes to old age. At the top of the carbs where the over flow/air breather hose connects both carbs together. Well after pulling the bike apart, I found that plastic peice barely hanging on and fuel just spilling out. So now I have to replace that peice, but not before trying to ride along without it. First figured my float was too high so I adjusted it. But even though the float level seems corrected, after about a mile, the fuel starts flowing out and getting everywhere.
So here I am, pissed and wishing I could blame someone for stealing my gasoline. Instead, now my GS is a project instead of a recreation.
I would rather have broken stuff then stolen stuff. I might shoot any thing within 10' of my bike or car if i got robbed. I get paranoid and pissed, bad combo.
sounds like your float needles arent seating properly, and are letting too much fuel in. time for new floats and seats possibly

good call. pull hte oil cap and have a good sniff. see if gas fumes are present
Already checked the needles and they still seem new (first thing I replaced when I purchased the bike 3 years ago.
The oil smells like...oil and the level is still the same as when I started pulling the forks 5 weeks ago.
Plus, it only spits fuel while ridding. If it sits at ideal, everything seems fine. But since the air tube 2 into 1 is broken off, It seems like its creating a suction while riding at high RPMs. Never had this issue until the airtube 2 into 1 broke off. Any other ideas before I drop her off at the Dealership for fork seal replacement and carb repair?

just one suggestion, order the fitting between the carbs online, and let the dealer do the seals while you wait on the carb fitting, then put that on yourself.
