Bugger
I have a really small leak on my GS500F where the braided oil cooler line attaches to the rigid pipe with a crimped end.
Is there any sort of sealant I could put around the join to stop it, or am I going to have to replace the flexible hose and end fittings?
Depends on where its exactly leaking from ... between crimp on banjo and the hose = replace the line.
@ the bolt = replace the crush washers.
I hate crimped on sheite ... I could get you some SS lines with some cool fittings ... well I will ahve to try to find it, banjo fittings are not nascar stuff, so its hard to find in my nascar reject playground.
Its in a pressure fitting, you have to fix it. Even a little can do a lot of damage.
If it was on the side covers etc, I wont bother till the dead of winter ... but this you have to fix quite soon.
Cool.
Buddha.
Its not between the crimp and the braided line,
its between the crimp and the rigid pipe which is why I considered a sealant.
If no suitable sealant exists, could I buy a high pressure oil hose and just screw clamp it on or would there be too much pressure in there?
Grrrrrr!
I changed the lines and I still have a leak.
It could be the core (or possibly/hopefully the o-ring but it doesn't look like that's where the leak is coming from)
Anyone have any advice on how I can identify where a leak is coming from?
Im thinking taping some paper behind the oil cooler + lines to see the splatter location :dunno_black:
hmm, I just read an idea of using talcum powder.
Puff it over the area of concern and you should be able to see where the leak originates.
If its on the crimp there is no way of fixing/sealing it. Take the lines and cooler off and take it to somewhere like Pirtek. They will pressure test the cooler, supply new seals and can make you up cheaper and better quality replacement lines than the original while you wait. I would do it sooner rather than later, it can only get worse and if it fails big-time you will be up sh**-Street.

I dunno if that would be worth it. I can get a 2nd hand cooler and lines from ebay shipped for $150 Australian.
I'll do some investigating first, hopefully its just an O-ring. Can you get replacement o-rings from repco?
