Well, I recieved my jets, and on Tuesday evening (9/15/09) we will be tearing apart this beautiful machine with hopes of putting her back together correctly and running even better than now. I'm going to put the new iridiums on then as well, and drop in the K&N.
I will be searching the FAQ section for bits of tips and tricks, but if anyone has any experieince with a setup similar and would like to offer some advice, thanks much in advance. 2007 GS500F, Yosh slip on. Should be a great learning experience if anything!
The only hard part is taking those goddamn JIS screws out. Good luck with that!
The other hard part is getting the airbox back in, but since you are switching to a K&N that won't be a problem (assuming it's a lunchbox K&N).
It's not hard to do, the screws are the hard part just give them a few good hits with a hammer and screwdriver and they will come out and don't forget to mark all the hoses so you can remember where they go when you have to put everything back together
replace them with a allen nut. you never have to worry about stripping them when you have to redo.
part number:
M4X7X10mm You can find in Lowes or Home depot if you are in US.
20/147.5/3 turns/1 washer.
65 mids optional.
Cool.
Buddha.

Awesome :D Thanks for the tips all. Looking forward to the challenge. I'll post how it goes!
Don't do like I did: Mistake the tank mounting holes/bolts for the airbox ones and strip the brass threds in the airbox. And don't spend 2 hours trying to stretch the boots to where the airbox would reach those holes.
Or do what I did, block the tank return hose and wonder why it was backfiring, coughing and spluttering, and wouldn't idle less than 2500rpm :embarassed:
It's alright now though
