Title: [HELP] All Electrics Not Working, Lights, Starter, Gauge, Etc... Diagnosis?
Post by: pixlgeek on September 25, 2009, 12:12:54 PM
Ahoy gs'ers!

I've got a 2000 GS roughly 10K Miles. Everything was working great last week, then one morning I go into the garage, turn the ignition, and nothing comes on. Kind of interesting, so I take the seat off, take a look at the terminals, they are connected. I've checked all visible connections nothing seems to be ripped, torn, etc. I cleaned both battery cable terminals with coke and a wire brush. I took the battery to O'reilly's and they charged it, however, it wasn't holding a charge and I believe the battery is currently at 6.5V. I tested the terminals when they were connected with a multimeter (hooked up the red needle to posi-term, black to ground-term) and I get a reading of 6.5V as well. However, shouldnt I at least be able to get the gauge lights on if it has 6.5V? I have LED gauge bulbs which shouldn't make a difference.

Any advice? Anything I should be looking for? Should I check a fuse or some other failsafe item like that? I've been reading to try and jump-start the bike, however, I tried putting it in 2nd and pushing and releasing the clutch but it just keeps rolling, there is no force on the gear. Will it even jump without a solid battery load?

Please help obi wan kenobi, your my only hope...  ;)

Thanks,

George

Oh I purchased a new battery which is currently charging, I will pick this up tomorrow and hopefully this can help diagnose whether or not it was the battery.

Then we shall delay our trip to Alderaan until tomorrow. But we still require payment of PICS of your bike.
