I'm not sure what my idle is set to right now. How can I bottom it out and work myself up to around 1200? Thanks

It's been a while since I've adjusted mine, but I believe turning it clockwise increases RPM's, and counter-clockwise decreases.
make sure you are letting the bike warm up 100% before you try to set it.
15 minutes of warm up may not be enough, go for a 30 minute ride then try setting it.
lol the problem is I can't get it running right now because the idle is completely out of range. I was hoping somebody had an estimate on how many turns away from completely clockwise it would be.
tighten the screw till it will hold an idle. then go for a ride. after the ride is over, set the idle to 1200
Haha man you make that sound so easy, but I go out there and crank on it until it doesn't have any juice left in the battery. When you screw it counter clockwise, will it eventually stop? When I turned it clockwise I ran into a lot of tension and it stopped. I'm afraid of working in the higher idle and starting the bike and the idle taking off.

alls it does is put a little pressure on the throttle linkage. it's like you have your hand on th ethrottle and it's cracked a little tiny smidgen of a nats asss....
so go out, crank on choke, ride as soon as it's safe (smooth runnin) to do so... then stop and spin the screw. no biggie. :)
Hmmmm.. Sounds like he is talking about the idle mix screws rather than the idle speed setting (throttle stop screw). However; if it is the idle speed screw and there is some chance you have damaged it, make sure the bike is in neutral and be ready to hit the kill switch if it is a runaway fast idle. Like you were advised above, no harm in relaxing that setting all the way and using teh hand throttle to hold idle speed. Charge the battery fully before loading it again. With the engine stone cold, check the plugs to make sure you have not fouled them or drowned them with fuel.

Grrrr someone shoot me, I can't get this thing to fire up at all now.
Are you using the choke? If it hasn't run in some time, are you setting the petcock in PRI? Try those things, when it starts move the petcock back to RUN. After it's warmed up, remove choke and set the idle.
Using choke but have the petcock on ON.

If the fuel has evaporated from the float bowls the choke will do nothing. Try it on PRI until it is running (or even put it on PRI for 15 seconds to let the bowls fill).

Tore down bike today, cleaning carbs tomorrow and hopefully get around to reassembly. Just gotta find a manometer
Oh can anyone tell me what size tube I'll need to sync the carbs. I'd hate to grab the wrong damn hose at the store and have to go back :mad:
Well eyeballed the sync, got it running. It ran 3 minutes with half choke then slowly started to sputter off. I tried to get the idle up but again got it completely out of range lol. Couldn't get it cranking after that and eventually ran out of battery.
