Title: Turn Signal/Hazards help!
Post by: JEREMY JOCK on September 26, 2009, 05:04:32 PM
 >:(

So, last night when I was riding, my right hand signals started acting up. I haven't changed anything with the wiring, or done really anything to the bike lately.

The left signals work just fine, and the indicator on the dash lights up, too. But when I flip on the right signal, it comes on, but the left side lights up (but it doesn't seem like it fully lights :dunno_white:) too. That's in the front of the bike. In the rear, both signals are lighting up, and the tail is showing the hazard signal. When the right signal is on, the indicator on the dash does not light up, either.

Here's a video of it to show what I mean. --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfMdBAl09nE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfMdBAl09nE)

Anyone have any ideas what's causing this?

I'm terrible with wiring and diagrams, and I'm trying to hold off on taking the bike to the shop and paying $60/hr.

check out right side for a bad ground or shorted wire sounds like your getting a power feed back from the right side

I have something similar. I am thinking it is the diode. (Small flat black piece near the turn solenoid on the harness. At least that's what I have 1996)

Mine is an 04 model.

As for the short/bad ground, should I look towards the front/right of the bike or the rear/right? Or just anywhere, haha?

All of the wiring looks good, I don't see any shorts or broken/kinked lines anywhere. I didn't check under the tank though because it's not pulled off. Is it worth it to drain it and look under?

i would check up front easyest thing to do is unhook front right and try it and then rear right and try it see if it changes anything right away.  the blinkers just have 2 single barrel connectors that hook the wires together so super easy to pull appart and hook back upmake sure that the rubber boot hasnt moved and got gunked up
