I went out today to troubleshoot my slow turn signal (left side).
Just a brief summary: I installed front LED (cheapo chinese) and a rear r6 or r1 style led with integrated turns (again, cheapo chinese.) I also removed the stock blinker solenoid and installed a standard "electronic / variable output" solenoid. This all worked fine for the first few weeks. All the signals have the appropriate resistors and diodes built in. The problem that occurs now is when I turn on the left signal, it blinks very light and very slow. (Both front and back.)
I can move the connectors around and the lights all work. I can also replace the lights with a different LED and get the same results so I don't think it is the rear tail light causing the problem. But, I can be completely wrong.
I was thinking the little flat diode (3 prongs) might have some affect on the turns and it still may, but if I remove that piece, nothing changes. Then I thought it might be the switch itself so I took that completely apart and cleaned and lubed it with some dielectric grease. Still no go (but my switch is smoother.)
So I am wondering if anyone knows how the turns are controlled outside of the switch and the blinker. (Does the little square connector with the orange wires coming out of it have anything to do with it? How about that diode?) Other than that, I just don't see where the problem is.
