yep. i highsided trying to avoid a begginner coming toward me as i am passing on the outside.. he couldnt hold his line on the turn.. i chose to go offroading instead of getting hit.  I went offroading for a few feet..hit pavement again and that was when the bike dicided to buck me off.  It was my fault on why the bike bucked me off... i am new as well  and stuck to front brakes only.  the 003 will grasp ...

Those are some sweet leathers.
Nice pics, looking good out there. Do you have any pics after the carnage? Glad you are okay.

Good to see you made it out OK.  Sorry to hear about the bike.  That is/was one good looking GS.  How's the adventures with the insurance company going.  Are you going to fix it?

Yea, sweet pics and leathers.  Sad to hear about the bike, but it happens to the best of us and even some who are not, lol.

How does she look now?  Have any pics of the damage?

Its in the shop being poked and prodded for insurance to get a qoute for how much it will take to fix.  Right now the shop is saying $4500. So i think this is going to get totaled. Hopefully i can talk them out of it.. shop is charging $958 for mostly cosmetic work which is just bolting new parts in. I want to see if i can convince the insurance i can do that myself at way less cost.. however, i fear it may not matter.

I will see if i can find Mr. Jekyll side picture. Mr Hyde is the Left hand side.

Blue,
A local dude here did exactly that.  He got quotes from s few shops on how much it would cost to get the work done.  Then he told them he would do the work for half the cost of the shops labor.  SO they cut him a check for the cost of parts and the cost of HIS labor.  he went and had it inspected when he was done.  Vola!!!

That was kind of silly of him.  Does he realize he completely screwed himself?

Unless it's totaled, the insurance company will cut you a check for the full price a shop charges for parts and labor.  Then you can do whatever you want with the money.  That's what I've done on every insurance claim I've ever made.

does insurance pay for any of your guys' track day damages? i would think theyd turn down a claim if your racing.

also, why dont people who build track specific bikes ever get frame sliders? just the little single rod and puck ones. something to protect the plastics? are they not allowed on tracks or something?

once a bike becomes track specific.. i think they no longer care for protecting the plastics.  however i am sure they do have some type of frame sliders..  it is not illegal.

its specific to your insurance company. there is no blanket rule.

my guess would be if you dont tell the insurance company that it was done on the track, that they would cover it.  but I would never recomend doing that  :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted:

So you regularly commit insurance fraud?

Are you rates pretty stable or have they gone up?

What???  No fraud here!

I had 2 issues where I was capable of doing the repairs.  I told them up front I intended to do the repairs myself.  They said fine and wrote me a check for what was estimated by their appraiser for a shop to do it.  Then I fixed it myself.

I had 2 other issues where I wasn't capable of doing the work.  I didn't want to use the shop that the insurance company suggested.  They wrote me a check then too.  I used that check to pay the shop I chose to have the repairs done at.
