Welcome raivis.  Here are a few things I'd like to share with you regarding the GS500...(mine is a 2004 GS500F - had it 4 months): 1) Gas - you might be riding along when your bike suddenly studders and wants to quit.  There is no power and you are wondering what's going on since there is still gas in the tank.  Just reach down and flip your fuel petcock to RES and head to a gas station.  Fill it up and move the petcock back to ON.  Don't forget to reset your trip odometer.  2) Buy a maintenance manual - it really is great to have one and will save you money, 3) My bike takes awhile to warm up when it's cold outside (about 5 minutes), 4) Please, don't forget your protective gear.  Helmet, gloves, boots, pants.  We all want you to enjoy your GS500 pain free.

So, enjoy your GS and welcome.  And yeah, pics would be nice too.    8)
