Title: poor running at low speeds
Post by: Snowbird775 on October 09, 2009, 03:53:58 AM
hi,
my problems with the bike started three weeks after a period of non-use. I havent drive my bike much for a year and the weather has been so cold and wet. When I started the engine, rounds were far too low. If the enrichment is switched off, the engine was stalled, unless given a small gas. But the problem is not the idle speed, because rounds are changing up and down when the engine is warming up. rounds are also a little less than a second delayed when giving more gas.
I cleaned the carburettor and spark plugs changed, but problems did not disappear, but after the maintenance a new problem came up. the engine starts, but after giving a low or normal gas, engine stalls. when you allow a plenty at full or half gas to give tours, the engine doesnt stall. I have also changed the airfilter to a new one and I have checked that my battery is working fine.

Is there anyone who might know what causes these problems?  :dunno_white:

welcome to the forum.

i didnt fully understand your post however for poor running at low speeds it could be:

weak spark
fuel/air mixture incorrect
low compression

at least thats what my service manual suggests.

low tours is a pretty common problem, especially after three weeks of standing creature.

after I drove few uncomfortable kilometers, it seemed like the engine was starting to roll smoothly and it dosent stall because of opening little throttle. I didnt also notise the rounds delay after giving gas.
maybe it was because I hadn't driven it for long time or maybe it just acts difrently when cold. anyway the rounds are still too low. sure I could just put more idle speed, but I think bike is losing some power, so that cant be the answer to problem.
next thing im planing to do is checking if there is loose clamps at carburettor. after that checking coils. third option could be valves.

Sounds like you are making progress.  I would try adjusting idle, if it was my bike....It will act differently when cold.

I hate "Standing Creature". But don't get low tours  :dunno_white:

Then again, I don't use online translators to help me converse in English.

okey, I tested the bike again and it seems like the cold wether is making tricks at the moment. the bike is working just fine  ;) its just takes very long time before engine starts to roll smoothly.
problem solved!
