Title: bolt broke off in tranny...
Post by: Green_Fox on October 11, 2003, 07:35:35 PM
hello, im new here cause actually I own a ninja 250 but i ride my cousins GS500 alot. Ok well heres our problem; We where on a cruise and went to a empty parking lot. I have wheelies down on my ninja250 (im a stunter) so I was out doing Wheelies stoppies n' stuff and my cousin wanted to do wheelies. He did like 10 pop wheelies only like less than 10 o-clock and then pulled over to talk. We talked about how he should improve and then he started his motor. he put it in 1st and let out the clutch and nothing. the bike would go to first but went nowhere...  So we had to take it to my house in my truck. this was last sunday, yesterday we took it to a shop and today they called us. They said "a bolt broke off in your trans., its gonna cost $1,000 to fix" we where like "umm no". where gonna go to the shop tues to look at the bike. Does this sound like a common problem os BS?  :bs:  The gs is a 1996(i think) with 7k miles on it. have any idea what we should do? can we get the tranny replaced for less than 1grand?
Thanks in advance...

You can buy a engine and transmission from a wrecked bike for about $300.

Or a whole bike in good condition for about $1200.

ok ill try to post in the sell section, thanks... actually It not very hard once you get used to it. It would be easer with a 600cc bike, but if it has a clutch and motor ill wheelie it... It was hard to wheelie my cousins GS500... I think its had problems since he bought it.
