Title: Making a Belly Pan/ Chin Fairing
Post by: GoateeChicken on October 22, 2009, 10:23:51 PM
So, I would like to make a belly pan out of my stock GS500F fairings that I stripped off.
The lower fairings are cracked and split, so I am thinking of cutting them to fit like a belly pan.
Kind of like this: (http://www.superbikestore.com/GS500BellypanFitted1.JPG)
Has anyone done this before?

I actually tried it before I went with the pan in the pic (that's my bike on that website). I used a dremel and shaped it really well. I kept the stock mounting points. I liked the way it looked from the side, but when you get up on the bike you will notice that the stock fairing flares out up at the top. If you could figure out a way to lower the mounting points you may not have the issue I had, or you may not mind the flared look.

On a side note, nothing but positive things to say about the Powerbronze pan. Easy to install

I thought about doing the same thing with my fairings but just couldn't come up with a way to cut the fairing that would make it look cool. but now that I can weld i may rethink it. I have since just removed them this bike was meant to be naked.

Yeh, the fairings were just slapped right on. They don't even fit the frame well. Clunky little devils they are.
