:woohoo:
After a month of getting new parts and a couple days of wrenching, my GS is about 85% recovered from the wreck
I still dont have a replacement windscreen as I just cannot find a direct replacement, but I really havent tried all that hard yet.
More importantly, I got over my fear and got back on the bike for about an hour under the tutelage of a co-worker/riding buddy. He taught me some nuances like starting on hills and basic residential riding. All my riding to this point was on a blast, under adult supervision, in a parking lot.
Couple of thing's I've found, I still need more cornering practice. I need to get more comfortable leaning the bike over. However, with the new tires not fully scrubbed yet, I need to be ultra careful.
my gloves suck, my jacket has airleaks for the arm zippers that will have to be addressed, I'm thinking I can stitch in a flap to keep the wind out or perhaps a velcro flap on the outside.
The one problem with the bike is I think I managed to clog one of the pilots in the wreck. Bike doesnt idle worth a crap now, and after its warmed up and you go out for a jaunt, the idle hovers between 3500 and 4000, but it does drop back after a few seconds....sometimes it will drop back to 1200 just fine and hold a nice idle. Blip the throttle and it will usually drop to about 900, and hunt around. But I'll ask my question on the carbs in a different thread. Point is, the bike is back and it is can be ridden. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
thanks everyone for the kind words of encouragement and the suggestions
I'll get some pics up as soon as it gets a bit warmer outside
Well it sure will be nice when she all back together again... good job!
nothing you said is true if I dont get to look at pictures of something. anything. doesnt even have to be your GS. its just that when I read a title in the posts lists, I always think to myself "hmm that sounds like something that would have pictures in it." Then i look, if I dont see pictures, im disappointed.
Im just messing around, but I would like to see some pics of the wreckage and of the fixins. :thumb:
