Title: Does anyone know the specific name of...
Post by: makenzie71 on October 25, 2009, 08:18:37 PM
...the female power receptacles for small electronics?   I bought a universal power adapter and I'm trying to adapt it to some "battery only" gadgets...completely baffles me that they make baby gadgets that are 4~8 D-cell powered but don't have optional a/c adapters.  Right now I got one working with some alligator clips and some flat spades wedged between the batteries and terminals, but I want to hardwire a female receptacle in so it looks a bit less ghetto.  I want to get about a dozen of these things so I can wire up all my gadgets.

Mak, there are dozens of sizes.  Check out a Radio Shack for several of them.  Just be careful of polarity when you wire them!  Some of them might be damaged by reversed polarity.

As far as specific names, males are plugs and females are jacks.

The only words that come to mind are "robot naughty place", and I appologize for that because I'm 26 and and should be a good 6 years over those kind of responses.
